• Activision UK being sued by consumer rights groups over Black Ops

In fact, we've been on the forums, monitoring feedback and in a number of cases, working with community members directly, so please keep the feedback coming. "In the meantime, know that we're committed to doing everything we can to support the best online experience, and we're working quickly to resolve this issue." Patch 1.04, released earlier that week, promised to fix plenty of problems - NAT issues and spawn worries among them. The unwelcome reality, however, was the exacerbation of connectivity issues in PS3 online multiplayer. "Clearly, CODBLOPS was the one of the biggest, if not the biggest releases of last year, which obviously leads to more people playing and more chances for bugs to be found," Gamers' Voice said. "Our view is that it doesn't matter how big a game is, it should not be released 'unfinished' or with bugs that make the game unplayable, which are words we have seen in a lot of emails to us recently." The group added: "Problems arise when, in the case with CODBLOPS, entire sections of the PS3 and PC gaming community are apparently being used as game testers for an extended period after a game's release, yet being asked to pay for the privilege. This is not a tenable way to treat us as consumers of videogames and it will not be tolerated." Not sure what about you guys, but game is still running like shit for me. No matter what settings I set, even though COD4 and MW2 runs perfectly smooth are maximum settings. Weird thing is, I get stable 60+ fps in codbo, yet it's still not smooth.
unfortunately unless we actually go over there and beat the shit out of an employee, nothing will happen. So what if we make them liable for the sum of 1 million? Water off a ducks back to these people.
Although this is a step in the right direction, hasn't this been the case (at least for PC) for a while now? We test, whine and moan and they patch (eventually) It sucks but it works. Bit of an undescriptive title, they aren't actually being sued yet, they've just been reported to consumer rights groups for investigation.
Surely it should be Treyarch being reported for being bad/lazy devs? For instance, the game doesn't even fucking run on my cousins PC (it's way over the recommended specs) and he can't even get a refund for an unplayable game.

Yeah, even though my computer isn't that great, I've heard computers that were built for Crysis 2 that'd get stuttering and crap with BLOPS. They had no right to release it this fucked up.
When I went to their support they told me my PC sucks so I told them to eat a dick. I hope they lose the case.
Maybe it will make developers wake up to the fact that they can't screw over gamers and get away with it, and that they actually need to listen to them.
Why does some Gaming consumer rights group deserve the full lawsuit payout if they win? This is just a cashgrab, they should be demanding changes in laws or the system to prevent Activision or other companies from releasing botched products. Black ops was obviously beyond unplayable at release for PS3/PC, that's shameful and there should be laws in place to never allow the sale of such faulty goods.
When I bought a bad game or when old NES games bugged out and were unplayable when I was younger I didn't think to myself 'Hmm, Superman 64 was so bad, I think I'll sue." I just marked it as a bad game and dealt with it or returned it or traded it in. Seems to be that everyone is in the mindset that the devs and publishers need to be punished or whipped into shape for making a bad or buggy game. Sure, if the game is completely unplayable something would need to be done, but it still seems like a lynching somehow. Sure, support and patches would be nice, but I did not buy those, I bought the game as-is, and I always expect at least a few bugs and glitches in all games.
Activision was asking for it not giving a shit about the community.

I remember checking JD_2020's twitter every 4 days to see if anythings happening, and all I saw was random tweet pics and him raving about getting zombie hiscores. Ughh I was so mad, Xbox was fine and remains flawless, but PC/PS3 really got screwed.
How can they still sell their last game for 60 bucks? And more to the point, what makes them think they can get away with charging the extra 10 for PC when that extra 10 to begin with was because of the tech originally used in the consoles being far more advanced than their previous generation. With the PC the price of games shouldn't change just because of consoles. I hope this changes SOMETHING.
