I Am Alive Well, I assume the majority of you have seen this trailer and it may very well still be in the back of your mind, partly forgotten. Well, for all those that were excited for it worry no more!
Ubisoft has completely restarted development on Jade Raymond's pet project I Am Alive. It has switched both to a new developer and a new engine. It was earlier reported that the game faced a big delay. "It's not going to come this financial year," said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. That puts it at April 2011 at the earliest. I Am Alive is being moved from developer Darkworks (Cold Fear) to Ubisoft Shanghai. "We have amortized all the costs that were incurred with the previous developer," Guillemot said. Guillemot also confirmed that the game is being completely re-engineered on the Splinter Cell engine. That would be what Ubisoft now calls the LEAD engine – a version of the Unreal 2.5 (not 3) engine that Ubisoft has continually modified since Splinter Cell Chaos Theory in 2005. A high-concept project, I Am Alive when first unveiled was supposed to be about survival in an urban disaster scenario. That scenario hasn't been attempted often – Disaster Day of Crisis and Disaster Report being almost the only examples.
More information at: http://iamalivegame.uk.ubi.com/ Don't forget to register, just to show your support! <3
I hope they don't shit this up. I want free-roam city, with a need to eat and drink every so often. Scavenging will be tough, weapons will almost always be melee. Build survivor colonies in destroyed Chicago.
Why would they base it on the Unreal 2.5 instead of 3? I understand they've modified it, but surely they could make the same changes to the U3 engine?
Oh please oh please multiplayer coop/deathmatch free roam :worship:
Unreal 2.5 has color, that's why they changed it.
I hate Shanghai.
I'm not too sure on this. Shanghai made Pandora Tomorrow which was a great game, but they also made the train wreck that was Double Agent. I suppose I'll just wait and see.
Unreal 2.5 has color, that's why they changed it.
You're not forced to use the UE3 default color palette, Mirror's Edge used UE3 and it definitely did not look like UT3 or Gears of War.
Wait wait wait, it's actually on the Splinter Cell engine? What the fuckarino. [editline]01:09AM[/editline] Actually I hope it's on the Conviction engine.
I hope this isn't super streamlined to make it more marketable. I want the need to eat/drink/sleep etc. Assuming it's a survival game.
Actually I hope it's on the Conviction engine.
Thank god, it is. This might be okay then.
If it's anything like the trend with Splinter Cell games it'll be dumbed down for the masses. Hopefully I'm proved wrong.
Although it is an old base engine, they continue to expand and modify it, so this is probably a really good thing.
Chicago, my home city. Finally I get to play a game where I can walk around familiar places.
Throwing a bottle of water to get rid of those people was both a waste of water and a dick move. I mean, they could have just shared it. :ohdear:
Throwing a bottle of water to get rid of those people was both a waste of water and a dick move. I mean, they could have just shared it. :ohdear:
It was empty.
As soon as the bottle hits the ground it looks like water is splashing inside of it. I could be wrong, though.
It was empty.
No, it wasn't.
i hope there aren't weapons everywhere i mean where will you find enough weapons to supply an army in a modern city
i hope there aren't weapons everywhere i mean where will you find enough weapons to supply an army in a modern city
I'm hoping for gun stores that have been looted, so if you find anything at all it'll be something small and pea-shooter-like.
Ubisoft? Prepare for shovelware.
Ubisoft? Prepare for shovelware.
Excessive DRM ahoy. "You must be living in a post-apocalyptic Chicago and have not been fed in three days to play. Also you can ownly download it once."
Also I hope they take out the time limit they had originally planned. Or make it separate. Like a free mode and then a timed survival mode.
He looks like a retard in that trailer.

...abandoned [editline]09:57PM[/editline] Kidding, but it's still taking an insane amount o time.
I cant wait to punch a guy in the face over a bottle of water and some shrimp crackers.
you want fallout 3 [editline]06:56AM[/editline] it's not in Chicago though
Fallout 3 is a shooter, not a survival game. Its also set in an alternate universe. And yes, it is Chicago. Read. [editline]11:03PM[/editline]
The game is set in June 2009 and will take place in Chicago (whether partly or fully is unknown), where a 10.3 magnitude earthquake took place.
Also it has a time limit. 9 days.
I forgot about this sometime after E3 08.
