What the fuck why would you even buy these. http://store.steampowered.com/
I just saw those a few minutes ago. Seriously, why the fuck would you buy those?
Prima guides have a lot of background information and obscure facts. Though I personally prefer to use online guides for assistance. Though using them for the whole game is lame.
So, do you get the physical guide through the post or just a PDF file?
It probably has a function to view it via the overlay, or it's fucking useless.
From the screenshots it seems like they are just a bunch of webpages.
strategy guides are only fun when you buy the actual book. :saddowns:
Strategy guides are excellent coffee table / toilet reads.
Strategy guides are excellent coffee table / toilet reads.
This is so true!
strategy guides are only fun when you buy the actual book. :saddowns:
Exactly. I don't know why you would even want to buy an online version of it. They're fun to look at and hold, but buying an online version just seems like it would defeat the purpose.
http://www.gamefaqs.com/ Shhh... Prima doesn't want you to know.
I just saw those a few minutes ago. Seriously, why the fuck would you buy those?
Because they're 50% off!
I always find it amusing how strategy guides usually launch at the same time as the game. Here. We'll sell you a game. And a guide to have the game play itself.
I get the guide for those "cannot wait" purchases. They make great showcases. Never read the actual guide to play the game, I'll figure that out myself.
Because some people -> :effort:
also what the fuck 7.49 for a fucking e-book?
Never understood the concept to buy these books, it's much better to find it out all by yourself. Well for some games it's okay for instance GTA series or some strategy games.
I had a strategy guide for Guild Wars and HL2. Those were fun to read.
The thing is that people are obviously still buying them because Prima are still in business, despite free alternatives like GameFAQS. I don't really see the point myself, even though a physical book is just a nice thing to have.
I had one for Vice City. Man, was it a great purchase.
Yeah, I hear strat guides for open world games are actually useful, especially for those who want to be completionists.
Fucking Pokemon strategy guide nostalgia
I have a strategy guide for Diablo 2 that came with the game. This thing is ridiculously fucking useful, or was as some of the info is out of date. I don't think I would ever go out and actually buy these though. Personally I believe you shouldn't need a guide to play a game.
Heh, $20 for a strategy guide... You could just go to Gamefaqs in the web browser. :eng101:

I had the guide book for Oblivion, it was a fun to read and pretty useful. I still leaf through it from time to time.
Strategy guides are fun to read and usually have nice editing and pictures and diagrams etc. But really they're such a waste of money when they cost half the price of the game itself. Shop assistant people always try and make me buy them whenever I get a game. "Hey DiRT 2 eh? Good game - nice choice, buddy! But... you'll want to get the strategy guide right? Hey yeah sure you do." No I fucking don't, buddy - it's a god-damn driving game.
I've never ever bought a Strategy Guides, I just don't think it's worth the money.
I bought the Dragon Age Origins guide (Not on Steam though) and it's safe to say that it was worth the money. (Got it for 5$) It has some really detailed diagrams, information, random trivia, maps and a full walkthrough.
