I know a lot of people complained about how terrible the first five (RE0, RE1, RE2, RE3, RE:CV) Resident Evil games were. but I don't understand all the hate for them, I found them to be much more immersive, scary, and all around better than Resident Evil 4 and 5.
I know review companies like IGN, GameSpy, and GameSpot really badgered the series for having bad voice acting (okay, I'll give them this), fixed camera angles (which I love, since it adds to the horror), limited ammunition (you're not supposed to have a lot of ammo, that takes the horror out of it), and how the games had zombies in them (removing zombies from RE4 and RE5 was a huge disappointment).
Why all the hate towards Resident Evil though? Does anyone else here like the original survival horror games more than the the new "survival action" (as Capcom calls it) games? Note: I'm referring to when Resident Evil went main stream with RE4 and RE5, and the so called "new fans", not the die hard Resident Evil fans who like the older games.
I liked 4 and 5 just because it was a breathe of fresh air.
I loved 4 because it was something new.
I hated 5 because it felt like an RE4 mod.

And the backtrackyness of Code Veronica, and the part where you switch to Chris cause I gave all my guns to Claire and was never able to kill Alexia because I only had like 7 bullets, a Knife and a bunch of health items.
I love every Resident Evil except 4 and 5.

I loved the atmosphere but after a while the insane amount of backtracking drove me insane.
I love RE, the story is amazing. REmake is my personal favourite.

I don't think RE5 was shit. It was very unlike Resident Evil however it was fun in its own merits. I liked it's small levels with payouts and treasure to find. It was very arcadey. And the story was decent.
While we're on the "racism" issue, I love how idiots are so quick to paint R5 as "racist", yet they don't say shit about R4 where you pretty much commit genocide on Spanish villagers.
I loved all the games, including Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica.
Resident evil 0 and Code Veronica were my favourites, nothing beats mutated monkeys.
I dont like the new ones. They made a great survivalhorror series into a generic shooter.

I still have Outbreak File 2 on PS2, it's damn awesome. I've also played Outbreak File 1, which I preferred, but the virus that slowly crawls to 100% is annoying.

I liked the virus slowly crawling to 100% because you know these people aren't immune to the virus and they will zombify.
I hated being poisoned however, fucking giant bees poison you and you'll reach 100% within a minute.
I only had Outbreak file 1 (you couldn't use mics during the game so you had to use the preset voice commands)
Holy fuck all you would hear is "ANYONE FIND ANYTHING?" "NO" (about 100 times)
Also I jumped a roof (first level of Outbreak file 1) and a crow attacked me in midair so i fell to my death.
RE2 and 3 were the best.

The coop was fun, but it wasn't that good compared to Outbreak's coop.

The story just sucks in all of them and I saw the latest one recently and afterwards, I just wanted to kill myself.
4 was pretty fantastic except for the escort mission which lasted the majority of the game. Hated 5 though, it was just a co-op action game. Didn't even have a creepy atmosphere or anything.

re2 > re4 any day but 4 is still a good game, 5 however was mediocre at best
I can see how they wanted to experiment w/ the formula in 4 and they saw how successful that was so they got cocky and decided to change it even more with 5
Personally, I feel making it depend on being played in coop was the worst decision made. Oh and chris pushing a boulder in a volcano fighting wekser was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY to over the top; even in a game about zombie viruses

If it contains black people, it's racist. If it doesn't, it's still racist. Everyone associates racism with black people, it's like sexism and women.
