Additional Information "Oh jeez I love this game, especially their artwork, it's so orgasmic, especially that picture of the giant steel airship fleet that everyone has had as a screen saver at least once." The amazing artist who did a lot of vehicles concept work for the Iron Grip series is named Keith Thompson. He has his own website, along with a page full of Iron Grip concept art. Check it out Maps of the Iron Grip Universe Courtesy of Tac Error
Would you mind adding my fan game despite it being non-canon upon it's completion?
There was a full universe section partially completed before they took it down sometime early this year. I'll see what I can dig up from my archive of Iron Grip stuff.
Would you mind adding my fan game despite it being non-canon upon it's completion?
Sure thing. I meant to add that, but I guess I just spaced it out. I'll add it tomorrow. I gotta get some sleep right now, but tomorrow I'll have all day to work on it.
There was a full universe section partially completed before they took it down sometime early this year. It's not steampunk, no one uses steam to power its machines.
It's not steampunk, no one uses steam to power its machines.
http://www.isotx.com/index.php?view=4564 Wrong. This Confederate AFV for example uses some kind of advanced steam engine called the "Coreburner". If not steampunk, Iron Grip is a world with steampunk-ish Napoleonic/Renaissance/Victorian aesthetics and politics coupled with 20th century technology.
Oh, then it is indeed late steampunk.
It's not steampunk, it's more like dieselpunk. And for the last fucking time, steampunk does not equal that machines have to run on steam.
It's an interesting universe with tons of promise but they've failed to make any games that can actually hold their ideas.
If anyone else plays Lords of Atelia, we should start a Facepunch based alliance.
Count me in on the alliance. Also, please add my fan game soon. I know it's non-canon, but I would like some recognition. And as for the steampunk theme controversy, I don't view it so much as steampunk but a bit like enlightment age with steam engines and such. Either way I still love the series.
Do many people play Warlord online still? Since it's only $10 I'm tempted to buy it but if no-one plays it I don't see any reason. [editline]01:11PM[/editline] And did they fix the retarded AI? I know in the mod they used the default AI that came with HL2, but PLEASE tell me the AI is smarter in the stand alone game.
People still play warlord online, and the ai is tough as the difficulty.
Nice thread OP. Well there are very few good servers and noboy really plays it that much. A shame.
Iron Grip: The Oppression is still one of my favourite HL2 mods just because of the soundtrack and because it's surprisingly fun with 5+ Resistance players. Also noone cares about your game, Nerdpest.
Iron Grip: The Oppression is still one of my favourite HL2 mods just because of the soundtrack and because it's surprisingly fun with 5+ Resistance players. Also noone cares about your game, Nerdpest.
NOt really, I care don't I?
Also noone cares about your game, Nerdpest.
I care, and I'm putting it on the OP, but I've got a life and end of the year finals that come before anything else. Also, I'm updating the OP with neat little discoloured panels, tell me what you think.
Doesn't look like steampunk at all. Looks more like some twisted ww2
Doesn't look like steampunk at all. Looks more like some twisted ww2

Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path not taken" of such technology as dirigibles, analog computers, or digital mechanical computers (such as Charles Babbage's Analytical engine); these frequently are presented in an idealized light, or with a presumption of functionality.
Do people still play IG: The Oppression?
Do people still play IG: The Oppression?
No.
Doesn't look like steampunk at all. Looks more like some twisted ww2
Yup, not steampunk, retrofuturistic or dieselpunk. I always meant to play this mod but never got it, is there a decent sized community in this so I can find online games at any time?
Yup, not steampunk, retrofuturistic or dieselpunk.
Yup, not steampunk, retrofuturistic or dieselpunk. I used to play The Oppression when the first Facepunch thread came out. We always had fights over that SMG that the controllable officer had, I forgot what it was called...
The mod is practically dead ever since the development team abandoned it for that Warlord game.
I thought as much, I never really imagined this to be a very popular mod for some reason. Some mods/games are just born that way. :/ You can pretty easily tell if a game or a mod is going to make it big. Then again there was WoW that nobody saw coming.
