Angels Fall First: Planetstorm is an objective-based assault game fought both in space and on the ground. Featuring totally original art and completely new gametypes, we take you from flying gigantic capital ships, piloting fighters, and manning turrets to the traditional vehicular and infantry combat, both planetside and inside the starships themselves.
It was origionally a Unreal Tournament 3 modification, but with the release of the UDK it will be ported over to that and released as a free standalone title. I never got to play this multiplayer because the servers were kinda broken in RC4 when I tried it. I did play singleplayer though and it was very cool looking and had a lot of potential. It runs extremely smoothly with ground combat being somewhat similar to a mix of planetside and BF2142. Space combat is immense and beautiful with some seriously stunning visuals and a really fun gameplay mechanic. Hell, text doesn't do it justice, just watch this. (Ignore the shitty music.)

During the final battle the Imperial worldship Gatarna was mortally stricken and pursued into the dark spaces of the Sea of Antar - never to be seen again. Antares never recovered from the loss of her emperor-father. The Antarean worlds were rechristened as the Federation, and absorbed into the ULP under the jurisdiction of the newly formed League Parliament.
For three-hundred years since, there has been peace under the banner of the United League of Planets. But like any vast bureaucracy, the ULP has begun to fracture from internal strife and corruption. The deceptive peace has proven to be nothing but the gathering of kindling. Now the spark of rebellion has been struck, and few will survive the conflagration that will consume all the settled worlds of humanity.
Both sides believe that their cause is just and noble. A unified galaxy. The unification of the scattered children of Old Earth. But at what cost?[/quote]

There isn't a release date yet, but apparently it is quite easy to port everything over to the UDK from UT3 as some mods have already done it. There is a big crew working on this mod so hopefully it should be pretty soon. I will update this with any new info that is released.
Tell your friends and spread the word about this because it is a very good game and is very fun but suffers from a small community. Hopefully with its release as a standalone this problem will be cured.
Also, on a final note: keep in mind that the game was a mod origionally and was restrained by that, with the UDK they can do anything they want with it so it should improve greatly.

Christ, every mod made for UT3 that actually got released is going standalone now.
Maybe they'll all finally get some players because of that.

Tried the mod, it sucked hard. The models were great and so were the maps but everything felt unfinished. Hopefully the standalone version will be way better.
Played during the UT3 free weekends. Really enjoyed it, cant wait for standalone

Actually, if you learn to deal with the issues it has/had (I've not played for a few versions), it can become extremely damn fun.
Didn't really like Planetstorm because of the harsh learning curve.

The game was pretty buggy when I played it and there wasn't any players.
Otherwise I liked it.
This looks like a mix of Battlefield 2142 and Eternal Silence.

You forgot to include the "a" in "after" in the first word of the first sentence in your quoted passage.

I loved it but haven't played the latest version, just lost interest. I'll get it upon its next release
The space combat is fucking awesome, boarding other ships by actually forcefully entering through the hull, as opposed to ES's cheap way of "in and out through the hangar".
And the ship interiors actually FEEL like ship interiors, as opposed to futuristic office buildings like in ES.
The first time I was on a ship when it got critical, and the lights go out and the flashlights come on? Epic, nothing more to say, really.

Hmm I never got to play any space parts, I guess I missed out.
Can't wait to get my processor to play this.
Basically as the ship becomes more damaged the indoor parts start to show it with different things like explosions and such. Most apparent of them is the power can go out and you have to resort to flashlights.
