The publisher, which only last month confirmed the closure of Project Gotham studio Bizarre, is said to have made significant layoffs at fellow UK dev FreeStyleGames, maker of the DJ Hero games. Vicarious Visions, developer of Guitar Hero on Wii, is also said to be victim to staff cuts. An announcement is expected to come out of Activision's financial results this evening. Shocking stuff, if true. Stay tuned.
True crime had so much fucking potential. I bet this is to fund some future endeavor which will turn out to be shit and/or COD related. [UPDATE: Activision's just confirmed the news via its earnings call. ] Goodnight sweet prince
It's about damn time Guitar Hero got killed off, it was too far beyond saving. But these layoffs and True Crime is unforgivable. You'd think they'd be making enough money from those shit pieces of fucking shovelware they call Call of Duty.
I'm kinda shocked that they are killing off guitar hero since I thought that was one of their top series, I haven't been following it but have the sales been terrible lately or something? And no more HK? :(
What the fuck True Crime: Hong Kong looked incredible, like GTAIV with kung fu. Didn't even know Activision had its claws on it.
They literally just released some info and screens about True Crime. The first time after its initial delay too, I just don't get it.

What the fuck. I was really looking forward to the new True Crime game, too. This shit pisses me off.
That would be stupid to nuke the True Crime game. Seriously anyone making a publishing/merging deal with Acitivision just end up signing their company away.
But why? I doubt Activision would have financial problems.
Nooooo not True Crime
But why? I doubt Activision would have financial problems.
Not as exploitable probably?
Why True Crime? :saddowns:
I didn't know there was a new True Crime.
Fucking Activishit.....disappointing more and more people each day.
[UPDATE: Activision's just confirmed the news via its earnings call. ] Fucking hell.
Activision is the new EA. EA has atleast straightened up over the years, but activison is getting even worse.
guitar hero was ready to die
Wow. I was looking forward to True Crime and Guitar Hero? Really? That game is an easy cash grabber.
Even if the guitar hero games have become cash cows, there are still people who enjoy these kinds of games so literally axing an quite big cash cow is kind of unexpected.
It's almost like they publish an unwarrantably successful generic FPS series that makes publishing any other series seem completely redundant. Oh wait.
Suddenly, call of duty: motion controller warfare. I can see it now... twats :smith:
But why? I doubt Activision would have financial problems.
Kotick is a dick, that's why They need all the money for the promotion of the next 10 CoD games
kill one series, milk another. The life and death of Activision
Wow. I was looking forward to True Crime and Guitar Hero? Really? That game is an easy cash grabber.
Apparently these rhythm games don't gain much profit. That's what was happening to Harmonix and they were about to be shut down but they bought themselves up as an independent developer.
Well I'm off to replay both True Crime games. It's all we have left now. It won't be revived.
Wow. When they kill off CoD from overexposure and WoW dies out, Activision is going to be up shit creek. Great short term profits, horrible long term planning.
How come they have not killed Tony Hawk?
How come they have not killed Tony Hawk?
Because he's hip and down with the youngsters of course.
I'm pretty sure Activision killed Tony Hawk off just not officially. No idiot is going to rely on an AAA franchise that only sold 3000 copies the first week.
Either Activision wakes the hell up and makes an old school Tony Hawk game, or the Hawk man's franchise will die just like Guitar Hero.
