The guys that made the first 2 legendary Carmageddon games in 1997 and in 1998 have managed after 15 years to finally reacquire the Carmageddon brand and want to make a new game in the series that will combine the best of both Carma 1 and 2.
They already spent most of their money on pre production and want $400,000 so they can finish the game or more so they can make the game even better!
At this moment in time, fans have already donated $207,593 out of the $400.000 goal and they have 25 more days to hit their goal and hopefully even surpass it!
The game won't be funded by publishers so it will afford to do what ever it wants without deadlines and censorships!
So if you are a Carmageddon fan or a fan of gta4, you will DEFINITELY want to see this game done.
The guys that made the first 2 games and work at this one, are 100% against suites and they support modding and they put lots of passion and soul in their games.
They have the potential to deliver a ground breaking game yet again!
This is history in the making!
I already donated $150 myself but you can donate anything from $1 to $10.000.
If you donate at least $15 you will get the game when it comes out, which means you have the chance to preorder the game at a quarter of the price it will cost when it comes out!
So here's the their page! Go there donate and become part of the Carmageddon history and spread the news as much as you can!

Just gave them $165.
Can't freaking wait.
Woah two people already pledged $10,000 or more.
remember this on the N64. was amazing!
On the rewards list:
Member (Throbbing)
Oh god why did I laugh so hard at that.

What's so obscure? You get the throbbing member of the guy on the cover.
Might throw $15 at them, I don't remember much about the game, only that I was young and loved the shit out of it.
remember this on the N64. was amazing!
You should have played it on pc back then because that's where it shined.
The console versions of carma 1 were much worse.
What's so obscure? You get the throbbing member of the guy on the cover.
I'd prefer not to be thanked in that way. Maybe with a wet oyster with a pearl.

I owned it on PC and N64, can't say I really noticed any difference aside from playing one in the study room and one in my bedroom.
Of course if I looked now I'd probably be able to notice quite a lot of differences.

Actually the n64 version was extremely limited graphically and it also had much worse physics.
Another problem with the n64 version was that it totally lacked the car damage physics that you had on the pc.
The cars would just get black when you crashed into them, no bending whatsoever.
The poly counts were so low that you could literally count the triangles on every model in the n64 version.
You don't notice all them graphical things much as a kid.
Atleast you didn't use to, nowadays that's all average kids look for.

True but I wasn't really a kid when I played carmageddon on pc and on consoles.
I noticed I don't like the graphics back then too, when it came to the n64 and the ps1 versions.
Pretty crazy how they've hit over half the milestone after only, what, 6 days?
Donated $15
I loved that game as a kid. Maybe a bit too extreme, but what isn't nowadays?
Pretty crazy how they've hit over half the milestone after only, what, 6 days?
Why do you think it's fast?
I think it's not really that fast.
The way I see it, they will need another 12 days or more to reach their goal at the current rate of donations.
In the first 3 days, things moved very fast but now the donation speed has slowed down a lot!
After 15 years have passed with no new game in the series, it's understandable that the fans are very old now.
And compared to Duke Nukem Forever that kept teasing people for 15 years, the carmageddon series was completely dead and silent all of this time, because Stainless could not buy the brand back until half a year ago.
Hey OP, maybe add a few screenshots to the original post?
I've only been able to find these so far:

Donated $100 a few days ago. Carmageddon was my childhood.

They'd better tone down that ambient occlusion.. christ it's way too strong :L I'd donate to them but I don't think I've got anything in my account...

Dude, that's not even 1% of the game.
Nothing is done, 90% of those buildings are just premade props that will be replaced by new models.
Not even the Eagle will remain in the final game.
This is not even alpha version, this is prealpha more like prototype.
The render of the game itself is still being rewritten lol.
This is just an excuse for them to post something but they literally have nothing ready to show yet.
The ambient occlusion will be tweaked 10000 times until they release the game, not to mention that it won't be as visible when actual textures start to appear on those empty models.
This shit need to be advertised as much as possible.
Here is some infos picked from the official Carmageddon.com forum:

I've mostly copy/pasted shits from the forum, so I don't take credits for the informations I post here. I do this only to promote the game (it's one of my best game C1 and C2)
Copy/Paste of a post from Random_Monkey:
Figured I'd rip apart the Kickstarter page and video to see what it tells us that we did or didn't already know.
Here's a list, feel free to discuss, disagree, add-to and so forth!
Max isn't red (or half is, suggesting that the 'red' we've seen before is from lighting)
He also appears to have a cybernetic hand/arm
True rag-doll physics for pedestrians
Ability to post your replay clips on YouTube (I'm assuming directly from the game)
Link to the facebooks and twitters with in-game integration
Expected release of modding tools, to help player-generated content... happen
C:R is planned to be an 'iterative development project' (Which hints toward DLC, and/or update packs, which will be free for Kickstarter backers of $15+, though is mentioned to be deployed via steam, which would suggest the same is true for anyone that buys the game there /after/ the kickstart stuff is over)
New potential release date = February 2013
Much nicer ped texture files, though I guess that was to be expected
Footage of ped running from Mk1 eagle. (Which could be the extra eagle model mentioned as a reward, or could just be a bit of fun)
Eagle (concept?), which seems to be a cross between Mk1 and Tez' spike placement
Ivan the Bastard concept/model
Sunset with appropriate lighting, suggesting different times of day (maybe night?)
Tshirts come in small. (Also, Screwie sitting in his wheelchair)
Big Dump perhaps making a reappearance?
Also some other stuff you might have missed:
Kickstarter? Kick Nobby!
Nobby browses the interwebs with his gun
Guy on the right here, (Will?), is drawing naughty pictures :O

Stainless has posted more information in replies to comments on the Kickstarter project.
----
Here's a summary:
The game will be released on PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and Mac, 'and other devices over time'.
They're investigating pricings and such for releasing it to Linux.
You'll be able to play single player offline.
LAN support is planned.
"Bicyclists are a fine idea, and Max will look great on a bike in the BMX (Biking Murder Xtreme) event". Random comment, or hint at a game mode / mission?
Furthermore, if they're looking into bicycles, they may aswell consider scooters.
Regarding the soundtrack, they have a musician preparing some tracks for them. No word on who.
"A no time limit sandbox mode sounds a good idea"
"C:R will be heavily based on updated Carmageddon 1 content, combined with Carmageddon 2s concept of user-triggered power-ups"
"Be a Ped" is a confirmed multiplayer-mode gametype.
They will be supporting the 'EFIGS' language set. ("English, French, Italian, German and Spanish")
There won't be any "barriers to progress" in the new game, as was seen with the C2 missions.
Regarding the release of the originals on GOG: "More soon"
Cops will be making a return, with a planned 3 tiers: Cop Car, APC, and the Oppressor
They're planning to make the pedestrian AI a bit more immersive than just "Oh shit, car, run for your lives!" - One might hope that this would see things like hiding behind pillars, or diving out of the way.
Any ingame rewards from Kickstarter are to be purely cosmetic.
There probably won't be more than 10 cars on a grid, though modding will allow you to change that.
The PratCam is coming back. "Mad Tony" is already booked in.
They're investigating the possibility of an "Eagle" model as a reward tier, much like Driver: San Francisco did

Mini update this time!
Seems I'd jumped the gun. PC and Mac will be first, followed by PS3 and Xbox360 to be played by ear.
Drivers will sometimes be ejected through the windscreen of their car as a result of the impact. (This also sounds good from a modding standpoint, implying that the driver is independent from the car model, so no more 'empty cars' driving around)
"The only pedestrian vehicles in the game will be a limited number of 'municipal' vehicles, such as trucks, street cleaners, buses, etc. Streets full of drone AI cars is just annoying, it gets in the way of chasing your opponents down." -> So, no more drone cars, then!
Hang on to yer helmet!
Great concept art. I can't want to see how the final game will look like.
I have extremely high expectations from Stainless since they never failed to deliver!
And from what they said and showed until now, it seems they still know what a carmageddon game should be like!
Woah, why did i really have to spend my money on beer?
Goddamn Screwy Lewy always kicked my ass in Carmageddon 2. Love that concept art.
This needs to hit a million. They deserve it.
This needs to hit a million. They deserve it.
First this needs to actually meet it's goal...
At the moment, donations have slowed to a crawl since 2 days.
Stuck around 245.000 out of 400.000.
This kickstarter needs to be mentioned on more gaming sites.
At this rate they'll reach their goal but that will only get the PC version out with the least amount of content. It's weird cause in the beginning there was such an explosion of pledges I thought they'd get their goal in a couple of days.

they need to put video updates up
I think that when there will only remain 5-2 days, pledge will explode. Or I hope so, an awesome project like that cannot be cancelled, it's for the good of humanity!
