RESIDENT EVIL MEGATHREAD :D What is Survival Horror? [release]Survival horror is a video game genre inspired by horror films in which the player's primary objective is to survive and/or escape a threat typical of horror fiction, usually zombies or supernatural beings of some sort.[1] The genre makes liberal use of both Western and Japanese horror film elements.[2][3] The term "survival horror" was first used for the original Japanese release of Resident Evil (1996),[4] although several earlier games, namely Sweet Home[1] and Alone in the Dark, pioneered most of the conventions commonly associated with this genre. The term has since been used to describe games of a similar nature, including some that were released before Resident Evil.[5] Although the genre is largely defined by the conventions of horror fiction, survival horror games involve gameplay that emphasizes vulnerability and a lack of preparation.[6][/release] The Main Games I'll order these Chronologically according to the Story Line Resident Evil Zero [IMG_thumb]http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg304/Take_Opal/f2195ba3.jpg[/IMG_thumb] [release]Resident Evil Ø‎ or Resident Evil Zero, known in Japan as biohazard Ø‎is a Survival Horror game that was developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo GameCube and released in 2002. It was originally released in 1996 for the PlayStation and has been subsequently ported to the Sega Saturn and PC., then re-released twice on the PlayStation in the form of a Director's Cut. In 2002, a remake of the game was released for the Nintendo GameCube featuring new graphics and voice acting among other significant changes. The game was released in September 22, 1999 on the PlayStation, a year after Resident Evil 2's release. It was later released on Sega Dreamcast and PC the next year and on the Nintendo GameCube in 2003. Resident Evil 3, while considered a full cannon game - was developed fo the soul purpose of holding fans off until "Resident Evil 4" was released (which turned out to be Code Veronica) Some areas from Resident Evil 2 are in the game and some other noticable cross overs. The game takes place on December 27th, 1998, three months after the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. It is the first Resident Evil game made for a sixth generation console and the first game to use full polygonal environments instead of the static, pre-rendered backgrounds that characterized the previous installments. Resident Evil 4 is the sixth installment of the Resident Evil series. Resident Evil 4's game mechanics have been completely revamped to incorporate fast-paced gunplay, quick controls and shootouts involving massive crowds of enemies in large, open areas. This combined with an abundance of healing items and ammunition is the polar opposite of previous Resident Evil games. Previous titles in the series have focused on exploration and attempted to instill a sense of fear via limited of ammunition and healing items, deadly enemies in enclosed spaces and a limited arsenal. The player can fire more ammunition and kill more enemies in one playthrough of this game than in all of the other games in the franchise combined (not including the Gun Survivor sub-franchise, in which the player is deliberately given infinite pistol ammo) - a typical playthrough can result in the player killing hundreds of enemies. One of the main influences of this was an expanded arsenal at the players disposal and the large quantities of ammunition available through ammunition drops and destructible items. Another would be the necessity to fight enemies, unlike previous titles where most enemies can be dodged or avoided completely.[/release] Resident Evil 4 was re-released on September 20th, 2011 on PSN and Xbox Live in "HD" for $20 or 1600MSP Resident Evil 5 [IMG_thumb]http://www.examiner.com/images/blog/wysiwyg/image/RE5_Boxart.jpg[/IMG_thumb] [release]Resident Evil 5, known in Japan as Biohazard 5 (バイオハザード5?), is a survival horror video game developed and published by Capcom. The game is the seventh installment in the Resident Evil survival horror series, and was released on March 5, 2009 in Japan and on March 13, 2009[7][8] in North America and Europe for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[9] A Windows version of the game was released on September 15, 2009 in North America, September 17 in Japan and September 18 in Europe. From the first trailer you can see Zombies make a return. Speculation leads me to believe there are three campaigns. One with Leon in a place called "Tall Oaks" which has been infected with the T-Virus or something similar, a campaign with Chris is in Japan and another campaign somewhere else with Ashley A. Graham and some mercenary guy with some important blood. Moving and shooting can also be seen.[/release]

This game is a major departure from the series, deviating from the third-person perspective of the previous games to a first-person view. The Japanese and PAL versions of the game allowed use of the Namco GunCon, a light gun that gave the game a more arcade feel. The American version did not allow the use of the GunCon, instead giving players a slower, more atmospheric gameplay experience. The game has no bearing on the Resident Evil plot, although it does feature characters, enemies, and bosses from Resident Evil - Code: Veronica. The game also features a Nemesis T-Type, which appears on the map to chase you if you run out of time. [/release] Resident Evil: Dead Aim/Heroes Never Die [IMG_thumb]http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg304/Take_Opal/743604d9.jpg[/IMG_thumb] [release]Resident Evil: Dead Aim (Japanese: Gun Survivor 4: Biohazard - Heroes Never Die) is the 4th game in the Gun Survivor series. Unlike its predecessors, which involved first-person gameplay, Dead Aim includes third person movement, something more familiar to veterans of the Resident Evil series. At the time of Dead Aim's creation Nintendo held exclusive rights to Capcom's mainstream Resident Evil games. Because of this limitation, Capcom made many spin-off titles, one of which was Dead Aim. Unlike Resident Evil: Gaiden, this game is a part of the timeline and the events in it are considered canon. The game was developed by now defunct European company, M4 Ltd, rather than Capcom. The game's events are not acknowledged anywhere else in the series though several capcom employees involved with the series -Shinji Mikami included- helped with the story. It was the first Resident Evil game with multiplayer capability, using the PlayStation 2's online network. Up to four players could participate simultaneously in one scenario; alternately, in single-player mode, the player is accompanied by two AI-controlled characters. Outbreak introduces the "virus gauge," which limits the amount of time players may spend on a scenario. The virus gauge rises at different rates for different characters, and increases rapidly if the character is attacked or crawling on the ground (due to severe injury or to Jim Chapman's ability to play dead). Resident Evil Outbreak takes place over five scenarios ranging from the beginning of the outbreak to the moment when Raccoon City is destroyed by the United States government. The connections between scenarios are usually unclear. [/release] Resident Evil: Outbreak File #2 [IMG_thumb]http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg304/Take_Opal/d4aa9895.jpg[/IMG_thumb] [release]Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 is an online game for the PlayStation 2, initially released in 2004 in Japan. Following the success of the first title in Japan, Capcom quickly announced Biohazard Outbreak File 2 for release in fall 2004. File #2 is more of an extension of the first game than a whole new game itself. The same eight characters from the first title return with similar abilities, and the game takes place once again in a zombie-run Raccoon City. Five new scenarios are available, and the first four are available from the beginning. One scenario takes place in a zoo, another in a subway, and one in a forest-like setting. The fourth scenario is a modified version of the Raccoon City Police Department, which first appeared in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. The fifth is an Umbrella laboratory. In Japan, the game came packaged with a demo of Devil May Cry 3 (if pre-ordered). Despite the financial success of the first title, File #2 sold roughly 40% of what the first did when it was released in Japan, dampening the chances of a future installment. RE:UC isn't a new plot (with the exception of Wesker's segments and the last level) it is essentially mini re-makes of REZero, RE, and RE3. Viral Agents Banner will come... There are a lot of unique viruses and viral agents in Resident Evil. Some could say its a little... convoluted. But they're interestign to read about! Progenitor Virus [release]The Progenitor virus also known as the Mother or Founder virus in alternate translations, is a virus which pre-dates the Tyrant virus. The Progenitor virus was a highly potent non-carcinogenic Mutagen that became central in the Ndipaya culture. Progenitor was discovered by Westerners, and would become the base from which the Umbrella Corporation's most successful bio-organic weapons research would stem several decades later. Derived from the "Stairway to the Sun", it was discovered in the Kijuju region of East Africa on December 4, 1966 by Edward Ashford, and Lord Ozwell E. Spencer in an attempt to prove the validity of Henry Travis, a man who mentioned the flower over a hundred years previous. After being experimented upon by Dr. James Marcus, the Umbrella Corporation was then founded by the three, with Spencer providing most of the funding, to disguise the research they hoped to carry out. Dr. Ashford died because of a Progenitor virus infection in 1968. [/release] (T)yrant Virus [release]The tyrant virus, more commonly known as the "t-virus" (see alternate names), is the second mutagenic virus discovered by the founders of the Umbrella Chemical, inc.. While the tyrant virus is responsible for the creation of the majority of their Bio-Organic Weapons (or B.O.W.s), the original intent was to create the perfect B.O.W.: the Tyrant[/release] Acient Virus [release]The "ancient virus" is a rare strain of virus found exclusively within the genes of queen ants, first discovered by Umbrella head researcher Alexia Ashford. Little is known of the virus' specific function. Unlike most viruses, the ancient virus is apparently incapable of species jumping; it had no effect upon humans until it was combined with the Progenitor virus. The resultant virus was later named T-Veronica. When infected with the T-Veronica, ants responded to Alexia's manipulation. This suggests the ancient virus may contain elements of ant DNA in its own coding. Other properties of the T-Veronica, such as combustible blood, control of a host and increased intellectual capacity, are likely due to the influence of the Progenitor Virus. The ancient virus is similar to the strain of T-virus produced by James Marcus in his study of leeches. It is unknown if the viruses are biologically related. [/release] Ebola [release]After the Ebola virus was discovered, two noblemen, Ozwell E. Spencer and Edward Ashford decided to study it. Spencer thought that it would be an efficient bio-weapon due to its 90% death rate. Ashford wanted to use its regenerative abilities for the medicine. Both of them obtained samples of the virus, circumventing the "Biological Weapons Prohibition Pact" by claiming that they were researching it in order to find a cure. The virus proved unsuitable for Spencer, as it couldn't survive for long outside of a human host, and is extremely vulnerable to UV radiation (photosensitivity). It also killed the host rapidly, and is only contagious through direct contact, severely limiting its ability to spread. In 1950, Spencer and Ashford discovered the Progenitor Virus, while they were studying the virus. This new virus was the begining of Spencer's bio-weapon project. In the 60s, the Umbrella Corporation was founded by both Spencer and Ashford, and James Marcus, to hide Spencer's project. After Ashford's death, caused by the new virus, Spencer and Marcus could start their new project: creating bio-weapons and discovering new viral forms, using the Progenitor Virus. [/release] "Unkown" Virus [release]An unnamed virus used as a plot device for Wesker's appearance in Resident Evil Code: Veronica. This virus increases the metabolism of its hosts, giving them incredible strength, speed and regenerative abilities. The only known host of the virus is Albert Wesker, so most knowledge of its effects comes from observations of him. The virus' effects limits itself to muscle tissue and the lower organs, leaving the brain relatively intact. This breakthrough means that the subject's mind is retained and no ill effects take place. However, the only known test-subject (Wesker) is a known sociopath with many crimes added to his name ome sources describe the virus as having been created by Dr. William Birkin for the use of Albert Wesker for him to fake his death in 1998.Its origin remains unknown, though is likely of Progenitor descent, though whether Tyrant, Gene or another strain of the virus remains unknown mostly.[/release] Gene Virus [release]he G-virus, shown as a purple, aqueous liquid in a glass vial, greatly increases the host's metabolism, which accelerates cellular duplication and revitalization of dead cells. However, the continual destruction of mitochondria in the host's neurons causes an infected person to degrade to sub-human levels. The host exhibits animalistic behavior, loss of moral reasoning and memory, and becomes driven by self-preservation. Ultimately, carriers become creatures simply dubbed G. [/release] NE-T Virus [release]Umbrella required B.O.W.s that were not only stronger, but could understand and complete missions, and due to the nature of the T-virus, all of its B.O.Ws were unable to do this. So the project was divided between two teams: the American team, led by William Birkin, and the European team. The two teams traded theories and ideas that included the first experiments in directly operating on a subject's brain. The American team succeeded in creating the Tyrant T-002, which could follow simple orders such as "Restrain" and "Attack", though its intelligence was insufficient for field operations. [/release] NE-α Parasite [release]The NE-α Parasite was an experimental parasitic organism created from the NE-T virus by Umbrella's European branch. It was created to increase the intelligence and ability to follow orders of selected B.O.W.s. The NE-α affects the compatible host's brain, taking it over and enhancing intelligence and susceptibility to suggestion. If the parasite has an incompatible host, the host will die in a matter of twenty minutes. [/release] T-Cameron Virus [release]The "T-Cameron virus" is a hypothetical name for Dr. Cameron's experimental t strain, appearing in Biohazard 4D Executor. It was created when Cameron injected herself with an experimental serum, to stop the t-virus from spreading when she was infected. However the serum mutated her body, allowing her the capabilities of massive shape shifting. While her body was killed, another unforeseen side effect of the virus took place when her body was eaten by insects-her consciousness apparently had been encoded within her cells. Given this, she had become effectively immortal, as long as she had a viable host to transfer any source of her corrupt DNA to remake it into her next body. She used these powers to leap from a cockroach that had consumed trace cells from her corpse to a nearby rat to a crow outside and from there to a member of the U.B.C.S. unit sent to retrieve her investigation. While this last body was destroyed, she had a "backup", which eventually was absorbed by other two members of the same unit, allowing her to escape Raccoon. Eventually, the fact that any being can take the cells of Dr. Cameron, and give it away to any other host body, means, that not only she became immortal, but hundreds of her can run around freely if her cells are distributed again and again, and this is key to her immortality. [/release] T-Veronica Virus [release]The T-Veronica virus is a variant of the Progenitor virus created by Alexia Ashford which, under the correct conditions, allows the host to retain full intellectual capabilities. It is named after Veronica Ashford, the Ashford family's Matriarch. [/release] TG Virus [release]The tG virus is an Umbrella Corporation experimental virus, which is featured in Resident Evil: Dead Aim. It is a fictional mutagenic virus with electrical properties. [/release] Ourboros [release]Uroboros was created by Albert Wesker with assistance from Excella Gionne, CEO of TriCell Pharmaceutical Company's African division. Although it is likely that elements of other viral agents were used in the creation of Uroboros, two factors were of particular import to the advancement of this new pathogen: the plant known as the "Stairway to the Sun", native to the African region of Kijuju, andwho was presumed dead on November 23, 2006 after an encounter with Albert Wesker at the home of Ozwell E. Spencer.[/release] X-Virus [release]A virus created in the Umbrella Arctic Research Facility designed to augment the infected's fighting ability[/release]
You're missing the first letter of the quote in RE: Code Veronica.
Claire haves a nice ass in Darkside Chronicles. Also, there are breast physics on both Ada and Claire in Darkside Chronicles.
Why does my RE5 benchmark run so well on DX9 mode and then suddenly die in the second two areas. It's like, 140, 120, 30, 29 come on, dx10 mode runs slightly worse but at least it's stable in the last two
I get 20fps on DX9 mode and 27FPS on DX10 mode with all settings on minimum.
Capcom know how to make some damn sexy eyebrows.
resident evil 2 is the best
I have YET to beat a RE game... I've only played a few minutes of RE1 and 3. I have seen my cousin play quite a bit of RE4 but I can't remember much from it.
Boring copypasta. RE5 is already out.
This is an old thread...
Resident Evil 4 is the only good Resident Evil game
I loved RE 2 and 3. I wish they would go back to that style. Awesome puzzles, moments of terror, awesome bosses. It was a true survival horror game, also had a fucking awesome story. RE 4 and 5, i loved but they're to much action. And don't focus so much on puzzles and story.
Resident Evil 4 is the only good Resident Evil game
wow leave. [editline]04:36PM[/editline] Here, this is what I'm talking about. fucked up and im unhappy about it
Resident Evil 5 was fully worse than RE4, take your own advice.
worse is such a harsh word 'wasn't as good' accurately describes the situation however, 2 is clearly the best and if you don't agree then etc etc
Resident Evil 5 was fully worse than RE4, take your own advice.
Although it maybe wasn't as good/fun, it at least had a good villain (he didn't go around stabbing people with his dick *cough*Luis' death*cough*), I swear that if I see another napoleonic zombie dwarf... Not that either of these are even comparable to the old ones anyways.
worse is such a harsh word 'wasn't as good' accurately describes the situation however, 2 is clearly the best and if you don't agree then etc etc
3 was better. :smug:
is that a joke tell me you are joking
i liked 3 tbh, nemesis always scared the shit out of me. 2 was good too.
3 is good but 2 is a lot better
File 2 was amazing.Too bad there wasnt a file 3.
Nemesis scared me shitless every time you fight him and he fucks you up with some kind of explosSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARS
If RE6 is going to be like 4 and 5, I hope we get the attache case back.
I also hope it's more like RE4 and focuses on horror more than just constant action.
I also hope it's more like RE4 and focuses on horror more than just constant action.
Yeah. And not having a partner. I hope they also bring back multiple saves. I hate having to delete all of my data or make a new gamertag if I want to start over without anything.
I also hope it's more like RE4 and focuses on horror more than just constant action.
Horror in RE4? No. Sure more than in RE5, but RE4 was 1% horror (bad horror too, it wasn't scary at all) and the rest was action. Let's hope they make it more like RE1/2/3. [editline]03:18PM[/editline] Not that any RE has ever been that scary, but the last 2 weren't at all.
