SURVIVAL CRISIS Z has to be the most open ended Zombie shooter I've played to this date and I really don't understand why it's not more well known because it's been around since January 2004. I personally am addicted to it just because it's very close to the type of zombie game that I've always wanted to play. Where you're not confined to a linear story or small area, but have an open area to explore and do whatever it takes to survive. I thought it deserved a new thread because I'm not able to link to the old one for some reason and just to give it extra attention in the Dead Island hype Some copypaste from Wiki
Survival Crisis Z is a video game within both the role playing and survival horror genres for Microsoft Windows. The game was published in 2004 by developer Ska Studios. The game takes place in a city during the wake of a zombie apocalypse. Players assume the role of a survivor, and are given free rein in how they deal with the hostile world.

Two game modes can be played, the first is Arcade Mode and entails surviving for as long as possible against an onslaught of zombies, this mode has been compared to Robotron: 2084. In the Story Mode, the player must scavenge for supplies, eat due to hunger and sleep to prevent fatigue, as well as improve skills to increase the chances of continued survival.[1] In addition to the zombie horde, two factions are present on the city streets; the Rebels and SWAT. The player can join either faction or remain neutral.[2] The zombies function as the antagonists of the game, and while they are dangerous at night they can be used to attack faction members if they are lured to the zombies' locations. Three episodes are available in Story Mode with different missions and more enemies. The player advances the plot by taking missions or work from faction leaders. In work missions, the player can take over houses, look for secret dungeons, eliminate rival houses with C4 or simply roam the map looking for items and weapons to trade; as long as they watch out for threats from the post-apocalyptic world—living or dead. In missions the player performs special tasks like saving a scientist who is researching a cure. There are a number of strategies to employ, weapons to use, and skills to help the player. The player character and party can be configured to accommodate different play styles, all the while dealing with the swelling ranks of living dead
GAME FEATURES - 3 different episodes in story session - Frantic Arcade mode - Randomly generated cities every new game - It's FREE - Very Open ended gameplay (play as a loner to get by or take over the city) - 2 factions (SWAT and Rebels) - Several beginning classes with special perks (doctor, hunter, etc.) - Anything can happen at any time (zombies jump through windows, random raids by rebels, etc.) - Extra areas like dungeons and sewers to explore - Easy to run on even the oldest machines - Very easy to mod graphically GAMEPLAY DOWNLOAD + VISTA & 7 FIX Download: http://www.bigdownload.com/games/survival-crisis-z/pc/survival-crisis-z/ Find instructions on how to run the game on Vista and Windows 7 here: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?PHPSESSID=q1ehqfgun534m8fq6t137abnt7&topic=107311.0
I need to give this game a try again. The turn off for me was the inability to play in windowed mode.
This game is ridiculously fun, especially as the guy with the revolver.
I remember this game. It was pretty fun but eventually deleted it and I shouldn't have.
There were some graphic mods for this, but I can't seem to find them.
I never really thought this was a great game, even though I was addicted and played for 6 hours straight. Never picked it up again after that
This game is pretty addicting, if only there was an actual decently open zombie game similar to this with multiplayer and alright graphics.
I love this game. Thanks for bringing it up again. I might play it again in the near future.
this was fun until [sp]those fuckers that make everything into an asylum or something[/sp]
This game is pretty addicting, if only there was an actual decently open zombie game similar to this with multiplayer and alright graphics.
Well I've heard there are some mods for it but I couldn't really find anything. Still though, it's very easy to mod just by going to the gfx folder and just edit any of the images there.
I loved this game, but never really went far cause I kept reading about some [sp]little kids coming out of nowhere and stabbing at you with knives.[/sp] :ohdear:
Just DL'd this and gave it a go, and i have to say its mighty fun. The map is a little small, but i quickly got used to that.
It's a fun game but I found that it became WAY too easy once you had some decent equipment.
This game is pretty addicting, if only there was an actual decently open zombie game similar to this with multiplayer and alright graphics.
It's called Dead Island.
I love how this game gradually gets more Silent Hilly with every chapter. First it starts with [sp]murderous ghost kids with knives[/sp] but then it moves on to [sp]zombies with spiders in their heads, banshees, chained up demons in the sewers, and a more gentlemanly Slender Man with a face for a final boss[/sp]
I find it funny how the dev lost the fucking source code so unless someone is hardcore enough to reinterpret from assembly further modding seems unprobable
This game is ridiculously fun, especially as the guy with the revolver.
Yeah the Doctor's special healing skills + revolver make him hard to bring down even at the beginning of the game.
Lame so.. It becomes survival against zombies.... And more about horror stuff as chapters progress? It's really god damn close to my ideal open world zombie game.
Lame so.. It becomes survival against zombies.... And more about horror stuff as chapters progress? Then, on Act 2, shit starts going down. Finally, on Act 3, holy motherfuck does shit go down. Shit goes more down than Australia.
Call me a bitch and tell me to eat crap, but how do I get this to work on Windows 7?
Call me a bitch and tell me to eat crap, but how do I get this to work on Windows 7?
Read the OP Find instructions on how to run the game on Vista and Windows 7 here: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?...topic=107311.0 I remember getting the demon burger on this. That thing was fucking rare from what I remember. Similar to the whistle that summons an angel.
Call me a bitch and tell me to eat crap, but how do I get this to work on Windows 7?
Check the second link in the OP Download those three .dlls and follow the instructions depending on if you are using 32 bit or 64
Call me a bitch and tell me to eat crap, but how do I get this to work on Windows 7?
Bitch, eat crap Also it's in the OP

Any co-op mods? :D
Run-time error '429': ActiveX component can't create object
Run-time error '429': ActiveX component can't create object
Make sure you've done the Vista/7 fix and if it still gives you that error, try reinstalling it again.
I hope this thread lasts longer than mine did. :/
So if you choose Act 1 when you start a story session do you eventually beat it and move on or do you have to start a new story session for 2?
If you beat Act 1, you get the choice to immediately start Act 2. I suppose if you choose not to, you enter a sort of sandbox mode. I never really tried it.
Just spent like 20 minutes going through a "secret dungeon" eating up most of my ammo and medkits, having the shit scared of me on the part with ghost children and finally get to the end for just a flamethrower Was not worth it
