Before i got the 360 i was (and still is) addicted to the ps3, well im used to the quietness of the ps3, and i heard the rrod happens from overheating by playing to long, well when i hear the 360 fan I start to worry that im going to get it. Im afraid to play it longer than three or four hours. Its an xbox 360 elite that was produce sometime after odst was out. Edit: I feel so stupid, its just being on the ps3 with all the fanboys talking about the rrod scares you about it.
Worry about it two to three years from now.
It should be fine, keep it well ventilated and play it in moderation. The things aren't as easily breakable as they used to be.
RROD is overplayed it's a risk yes but the odds of it occurring aren't as bad as you might think. You can play marathons on it but not for too long
More than likely, it won't happen. Unless you play 24/7.
Ok, im just worried cause i spent 330 bucks on it.
do you have the extra fan thingie that goes on the back? [editline]04:30PM[/editline] Thanks google ads!
And in case you get RRoD (which won't happen, yet), it'll be repaired for free.

I have a 360 that's got several months of play time on it, and it's still going strong, even if it breaks it's just $200 to replace now Think if you had gone to an arcade and put that much time there... you would've spent thousands and thousands of dollars
The elites shouldn't get rrod as often. Or so I've heard.
My Xbox is coming on 4 years old and I've only ever had 2 faults with it. Neither were the RROD. Just keep it really well ventilated.
Worry when it is 3 years old. Then the RROD warranty is gone. I have had my 360 for 2 years now, no RROD. If you bought it new from like Future Shop or something, it will automatically have 3 year RROD warranty, as far as I know, with MicroSoft.

And my XBOX is 3 years old.
Don't worry about it too much. I've had mine quite a few years and it's still in perfect condition. Don't let it overheat though.
Don't put it in a cramped space and you should be all good Get a small fan or something blowing on it if you want to be safe
Alright, could u also say what you think your average play time is.
Don't worry too much, the new ones are a lot more resilient that the earlier ones, just don't play for 6 hours straight or in a stuffy hot room.
got my 360 back on late 07, and have been playing it for 20-30+ hours a week, still running strong and doesn't over heat.
Yes, I got my Xbox in 2007 and it's been fine ever since.
Alright, and how long should i let it cool down after about 4 or 5 hours.
Alright, and how long should i let it cool down after about 4 or 5 hours.
You don't. My XBOX can be omne 14+ hours without overheating. The longest it's been on was 30 hours I think.
-.- You cant get RROD on the newer Xbox's. Well, you can but its alot harder. Dont worrie!
Alright, thanks for the help guys, i just dont wanna lose it.

I usually just leave my Xbox on even when I'm not using it for hours. It may sound like it's working hard as fuck but it's fine.
Your Xbox is going to blow up when you first turn it on because of the red ring. You have been warned.
You're fine, I had the first generation xbox and it died a ~2 months ago, it was released 3? years ago already.
Don't worry man. I got my arcade at release and its still running good. You shouldn't be worried. My Xbox has a higher chance of getting it than you're new and improved one.
I've had my 360 since it came out (It doesn't even have an HDMI port :saddowns:) and it hasn't RROD'd once.
