Well, I don't get AT ALL why Minecraft is lagging.. I am getting 20-40 FPS, and doesn't really go higher.. (I think I hit 50 once, but I was on flatgrass and looking at the sky) Anyways, why it's so weird that I'm not getting higher FPS is because I can run Metro 2033, DX11, all maxed at 40 FPS..
Another thing is that my friend has a Phenom + GTX 560 rig (My card is a little better than his) and he runs the game at 180+FPS..
My full specs:
AMD Athlon II x4 (3.0GHz)
8GB DDR2 - 1066
ATI Radeon HD 6870
120GB Vertex3 SSD (what MC is running off)
Any suggestions? My best guess is that MC is horribly optimized with ATI graphics drivers.. But 40 FPS, to me, is kinda unplayable.
we are not a minecraft support forum
thanks

and also
if you call 40fps unplayable
why is it that you then point to m2033 at 40fps?
40 fps unplayable? You've got to be kidding me.
Not even 20 fps is that bad. Cope with it.
It is called Minecraft. That is the reason.
Install Optifine maybe? And Phenoms are better than Athlons anyways.

I have a 6870 and he should be pushing 100-200. Regardless of how playable or unplayable 40 fps is, something is still wrong and needs to be corrected.
OP, do you have Balanced or Power Saver enabled in the options menu?

I have a 6850 and I get 30-50. Minecraft is more CPU-heavy I think.
Do you have a ton of programs running that you DONT need? (Like listening to music while playing on youtube?)
I can call 40 FPS unplayable.. It's stuttery with Minecraft to so it doesn't even look like 40, more like 20.. :/ When I watch my friend play it, it's as smooth as a baby's bottom.

Thank you. I have balanced selected.

Nope.. I've even ended almost every process that I didn't need, including explorer, and that didn't help the slightest.

Why would you exit explorer?

Windows Aero, it takes a little bit of resource.. Desperate times come for desperate measures.
Try remounting the card. Also your PSU might be too weak for the card.
My friend has a Phenom II 960T and a 7770.
He gets 100+ FPS. But he got it already after a CPU upgrade (From a dual core athlon something and a HD3850 to 960T and a HD38500)
MC is more CPU dependant. Try OC-ing a bit more maybe?

you have an athlon II, 40 fps is all you're going to get in minecraft with an athlon II - your 6870 is also more than likely being bottlenecked by it
and you're completely stupid if you're convinced that this rig can run metro 2033 maxed w/ dx11 at 40 fps (unless you're playing at 640x480)
