Since the other thread is old, and lacked screenshots and some info, i decided to make this one which will hopefully, get more replies than 4. Now, some copy-pasta of the history of the game:
Set in the year 2035, Brink tells the story of the Ark, an artificial floating airport that’s also the last refuge on Earth. Rising sea levels have made dry land—natural or otherwise—a commodity, making it the setting for what could be one of man’s last battles. Two factions are at odds over the Ark: the Resistance, a group of people who have landed on the Ark in search of refuge, and the Security forces who are doing their best to maintain order as they see it. Players can choose either faction in the single-player campaign.
And another thing is the guys have a cool new system called S.M.A.R.T.
S.M.A.R.T. is short for “Smooth movement across random terrain,” Wedgewood explained, giving a quick thanks to Bethesda marketing. The system is able to interpret players’ intentions and translate them into movement more easily. The example we saw took place around an airport balcony. By holding the S.M.A.R.T. button down and running toward the balcony opposite the start, the player character sprinted toward the rail, vaulted over it, landed on his knees and skidded toward a vending machine. There, he jumped on top of it and climbed over the railing. It was a much cooler looking alternative to running around the long way, and it seemed much easier than pressing jump a whole bunch of times while hoping the character’s feet were positioned in the correct spot.
So basicly, is a pimped running system like that in Prototype, only not so powerful, but still looks cool. Also, like all Bethesda games, this does have a open world (Or battlefield always full of constant objectives, if you prefer saying that.) and a character designer.
As we mentioned before, you can choose to align yourself with the Resistance or Security forces. While both sides appear to have similar capabilities, they each have their own unique styles. Many of the Resistance have floated onto the Ark from aging barges and whatever ships they could scrape together, and their equipment is equally improvised. Characters sported shoulder armor cobbled from tires and seat-belts, or armadillo-like sections of interlocking license plates. Security members are much better equipped, with professional looking gear. As an incentive, players can unlock special in-game gear for doing well, too. Aside from picking clothing, players can pick between faces, races and body types. Character designs are an odd (but effective) blend of Team Fortress’ Pixar style look and reality.
Enough copy-paste. By now you already know pretty much a lot of the game. And Game Informer was the only source who said that much in such details. If you want to see all the details about how the game objectives work (With is kinda interesting, but nothing innovative.) or other details, you can read it all here: http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Story/200906/N09.0610.1629.55826.htm?Page=1 Now, let's get to see some Concept Art and some In-Game Screenshots. Concept Art The Container City The Founder's Island (I believe the tower in the middle is the ARK) In-Game Screenshots The S.M.A.R.T. system let you evade enemy fire... ...and you look cool while doing it. Also, i put all of these here because they are all the screenshots that have been released so far, so i decided to put them all here since they weren't many, except for a photo of 2 guys talking while operating a crane, it simply wans't interesting.) And now for the overall info. Developer: Splash Damage Publisher: Bethesda Softworks Plataforms: PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 Release date: Q3 2010 --- Also, Bethesda is probably not working on ES V because they are working on this, but i would ask please for you guys to not rant about it here, since there is already a thread for that. :v: Also, in my opnion, this looks awesome, but i will take too long. Well, i can wait if the final product is awesome.
it's like theyre saying here's something to tide you over till es 5 but actually shitting in our mouthj edit; would actually unironically play thyis soryy dont mean to thread shit, looks good man, reallly, nice thread. edit hurf wish there was more than concept art though. rated gaybow, the coolest rating (User was banned for this post ("PUI" - Spork-Juct))
low-res and bad cartoony style. so far looks like shit. or kinda like crackdown but more like shit.
Holy shit, this looks awesome.
Holy Shit, i just noticed how the ARK really looks like a white citadel on that concept art.
rated gaybow, the coolest rating
I still don't understand why people don't use the rainbow correctly for the use of optimistic and instead use for saying something is gay.
In-game looks like concept art, but with sprites and jaggies.
I thought this thread was about bink video.
I wish they'd quit wasting time on this and work on an improved Gamebryo engine with animations that don't suck for TES5.
I wish they'd quit wasting time on this and work on an improved Gamebryo engine with animations that don't suck for TES5.
I think new engine would be better overall.
The only thing I see wrong with Gamebryo is the animations. The trees etc all still look fine.
My god that looks awesome
That looks great, might get it someday...
you tard this isn't being developed by Bethesda it's being published by Bethesda. Splash Damage is developing it.
I don't think this is using Gamebryo...
There is apparently not a thing Brink doesn't make.
you tard this isn't being developed by Bethesda it's being published by Bethesda. Splash Damage is developing it.
Oh sorry. Ok, changed. You can rate me boxes if you want.
and it isn't using Gamebryo it's using id Tech 4. this thread is incredibly misleading.
Since when i said it was using Gamebryo or id Tech 4?
thread =/= OP.
Oh sorry. Anyway, i believe it everbody though it was Gamebryo because i made a mistake and put Bethesda as the Developer.
So Bethesda is sitting around with their thumbs up their ass waiting to publish this when they could be improving/making a new engine? Twats.
Why do humans in games these day looks so non-human. [editline]02:07AM[/editline] I know it's concept but I doubt they wont make them like this in the product
Man it'd be hilarious if this used the gamebryo engine. the whole smart thing would be fine but as soon as you tried to run diagonally, your character would just stumble and fall over.
God I love Bethesda.
Huh, those screenshots look like concept art to me, for some reason
I like the graphical style
Splash Damage did Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars for the people who don't know. In that case it makes sense that it uses id Tech 4.
I'd play this.
I'm so gonna get this for PC.
In-game looks like concept art, but with sprites and jaggies.
Oh my god do you even know what those two terms mean? Game looks awesome, too bad it isn't running on Tech 5. [editline]12:57AM[/editline]
God I love Bethesda.
Bethesda isn't making it. [editline]01:00AM[/editline] To clarify my call out on kukiric: Sprites are 2d images. I'm assuming you mean models. Jaggies is the lack of anti-aliasing. There are no noticeable jagged edges in any of those pictures. I assume you mean sharpness of curves and such because of polygons. I thought any gamer would understand this.
