• Microstuttering in Half-Life 2

I keep having annoying microstuttering issues while playing Half-Life 2. Every few seconds it freezes for a milisecond (accompanied by a soft 'plop' sound). I don't know if it's because of the switch to the new engine, but I tried everything to fix it. Multi-core rendering on/off, vsync on/off, fullscreen/windowed mode. No change. The game is perfectly playable and runs smooth most of the time, it's just that it annoys me. I have an Intel i5 750 and a single HD5850 graphics card, Windows 7 64-bit. Do any of you guys have this issue?
I get everything but that plop sound, but I also get this in every single Steam game I have and not just Source games.
What programs are you running in the background? Maybe it has something to do with that.
Steam, Windows, Fraps, and Anti Virus. My junk started screwing up April 10th but it seems to only affect Steam games, its not the Anti virus because i didnt have any after reinstalling windows and it still happened. When I close gameoverlay the issue seems to pretty much stop, so I assume its steam.
My hl2 works fine. :saddowns:
Do you have any launch options or configs?
