• Steam's Servers Fail?

Well I purchased a game for the millionth time and now it's telling me to try again later because the steam servers are busy? I've tried about every 15 minutes for about an hour. This is the first time this has happened and shouldn't steam have good enough servers to accompany lots of people downloading?
Does it say "Cannot Contact Steam Network" ?
Does it say "Cannot Contact Steam Network" ?
Nope. Just, "The Steam Servers are too busy to handle your request. Try again in a few minutes."
Try restarting Steam.
Try restarting Steam.
Still getting the same message after restarting. Must be on steam's end.
I tried updating Half-Life 2 earlier today and got the same problem. It fixed itself when I restarted.
I've been having this all day, it sucks.
When I got this, I just turned off my computer and went to bed. the next morning when I woke up, the problem was solved.
I can't even open up steam without getting that stupid message, i can't play any game, can't open steam, and this has been happening for 3 days!
My friend said he couldnt get any in-game servers. He restarted steam and the problem was gone.
EDIT: Restarting it for the hundredth time has helped, I guess the Steam servers just pick on people to bother...
I got similar problems, cant play anything, getting try again later errors. Restarted, steam, my PC, everything.
Close steam, go to the steam folder, delete clientregistry.blob, start steam. Worked for me.

I wish you can start steam with or without connection.
I couldn't play TF2. I had the sane problem. Except that it said that it was verifing the fucker then it would say the servers were too busy. So I copied my steamapps folder which toook a day. Deleted the Steam folder, re-installed Steam, and copied everthing back. Then it finnally fucking worked. So if you have the patience, go ahead and try that. Fuck.
I got similar problems, cant play anything, getting try again later errors. Restarted, steam, my PC, everything.
Over 600 Posts in a month... Anyways I didn't have this problem by just restarting my internet, should help, at least it worked for me :v:
You wanna know why? Normally Steam handles only Microsoft users, ever since the Mac came along and share the network on Steam it became a hellota slower and gets over whelmed.
You fix this by deleting EVERYTHING except Steam.exe and the steamapps folder. Or you can restart it for the millionth time. Both work.

There has been almost no increase in concurrent users.

I only need one account to have access to a Microsoft copy as well as a Mac copy. And quite frankly I just downloaded my games to my Mac recently so that I will be able to play on this long fucking 12 hour plane ride to England. Just because the Users havent increased... Doesnt mean the Downloads of games havent. Its poor theory on your part... 1 USER can have multiple games... and those multiple games can go on multiple MACHINES, which now can be either Mac OR Microsoft. So he is right, and you are the one that is so wrong.

If you believe it has, take a look at the content server statistics. They've had no extra load put on them. There was a slight increase for the Portal free weeks, but after that, it returned to how it was. The fact was, the database slave that the Steam Store and the database slave that the Steam Community run on had gone down (not the actual auth server)! This resulted in the pages not loading. Eventually they came back online. Don't accuse me of being wrong when you're flat out wrong. [editline]06:18PM[/editline] Let me reiterate... IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MACS. At peak during the weekend, Steam uses about 130Gb/s - it has the capacity for almost 1Tb/s.
Tried downloading from a different server?
