So I just got back from a really long walk to Wal-Mart with my friend. We're exhausted! Anyways, I'm fairly new to the whole Valve/Steam gaming phenomenon, and I had been hearing awesome things about CS:S. The one I bought comes with HL2DM, and DOD:S. Since I'm pretty new to this kind of gaming, (I play Gmod all the time though) I would like to know what I can do with CS:S and everything else this came with. Is it fun, cool mods, etc. Thanks in advance guys!
Good luck getting a decent answer from facepunch, you will probably be flamed for buying this game.
-snip- You'll have fun. :)
CS:S has a ton of mods like surfing and zombies and it's just Counter Terrorists vs. Terrorists DOD:S is a WWII game like CS:S HL2:DM is pretty fun from what I hear -- running around shooting toilets with the Gravity Gun at people.
CS:S Has gungames, zombie escape, death run, surf and many other styles of game play. It's good fun and so is Day of Defeat Source. congrats on your purchase
Surfing, bhop and climb are the only things I do on CS:S, if ever.
CS:S and DoD:S are excellent. You'll have a hell of a time.
I admit, CSS IS fun. So is DODS. Now, next get the Half Life series via Steam.
CS:S is great. The community is what makes people hate it
That's a really good Valve multiplayer deal. You'll have fun playing all of them, just try to avoid getting sucked into an elitist clan. Or just avoid clans full stop.
congrats on your purchase
Thanks man.
CS:S is great. Get TF2 as well. Why this multiplayer pack doesn't include it I'll never know.
valve complete pack is 100 bucks and over 300 hours of pure fun. has every single game made by valve till now. planning to buy it. Will someone lend me 100 bucks?
Get TF2 as well. Why this multiplayer pack doesn't include it I'll never know.
Because the copy he purchased was made way back in 2004-05 probably?
Next thing you should do is buying The Orange Box.
Because the copy he purchased was made way back in 2004-05 probably?
Yes it was. 2005.
Next thing you should do is buying The Orange Box.
I have it on the Xbox 360, but I can't stand the Xbox anymore, so I just may.
What can you do with what came with it? Well you could take that plastic stuff around the box and suffocate yourself with it. It's probably better you do instead of playing CS:S. [editline]06:36PM[/editline] No problem btw.

At first, you are going to be confused as fuck. There are so many severs and so many have mods with them and you won't tell the difference. It will take a while to get used to it but CSS is one of best fps games out there. Plus it has tons of skins (skins are replaced for models like weapons and maps that changes the way you look at the thing, for example you can have a skin for the aug that changes it to look like an m4 with a red dot, you can find how to download them and find them at fpsbanana.com)

HL2:DM is fun as hell. It's about as fast-paced as an Unreal Tournament game, and the gravity gun combat is excellent.
Yeah, I loved Hl2:dm for years, I still do, but I just never get around to playing it. :|
Surf is actually the main reason i play CSS these days.
Map prefixes are gamemodes: DE is bomb defuse, CS is hostage rescue, zs is zombie survival, there are many fun gamemodes for all those games. [editline]07:03PM[/editline] Also, for HL2DM: those coop_ and js_coop maps are awesome.
Blah
We're so glad you could blatantly share your mental shortcomings with us. Now, please relocate yourself to the nearest asylum. To te OP, basically what Ezhik and all those other (helpful) guys said. CSS and DoD can be a blast (though DoD has less players), though the multitudes of mods and addons people use can be overwhelming to begin with. I could recommend you some servers for CSS which run half-decent custom maps.
I personally find DoD:S more entertaining, but CS:S is good for people who are new to FPS-type games. If you really want to get good, I recommend buying the original Counter-Strike next, as it really helps you learn how to aim well.
Yeah, I loved Hl2:dm for years, I still do, but I just never get around to playing it. :|
Oh you cant imagine all the rage i received on my lag. here is an excerpt of one of my plays:
*woosh! toilet!* Other guy: Haha you missed! Me:Think again... *Other guy gets lag compensatiowned* Other guy:HAAAX
Good times.
I think you should learn to map via source SDK. It sort of takes the magic out of playing it though... but if you want to wow the CS:S community with non fullbright ZM maps then, please by all means, do. I'm working up my skills to do such a thing... in eventual time
