Whenever I play HL2 the objects in the game seem to have some sort of filter on them or something... Whenever I move away from things the textures fade to gray, like this; I have no Idea what's wrong and have updated my drivers and changed the visual settings ingame, but to no avail. HALP!
Looks to me like the cubemaps are broken or something, or not, because the test tube glasses are still shiny and not grey like the rest of the props. I'm not completely sure. Or messed up fogs interfering cubemaps?
I have no idea what any of that means.
Try adding -autoconfig to hl2's start up commands. Start the game, then exit it, remove -autoconfig, start the game and see if it still happens. (rightclick on hl2, click properties, then launch options)
Either messed up fog management or broken cubemaps. I'd say something is wrong with the Z-buffer...

Have you changed any Video Card Settings? It looks the same way an object would had their been smoke in front of it.
This should definetely work. Type sv_cheats 1 in console, then fog_enable 0. It removes all fog.
I'd have to say it's a Z-buffer issue.
Fog.
Did you fix it?
When I was using an ATI card I had those issues over several different games. When I switched to nVidia it all went away.

I had this problem too, it had something to do with when I had some sort of graphics setting enabled or disabled but I can't remember what it was now. But try typing "buildcubemaps into the console (without quotes).
