i was just about to play assasins creed 2. that is just messed up
Leave a towel over it.
I like it.
I just sent mine in to be repaired, they better fucking send it back to me before Mass Effect 2 comes out.
I'm surprised Take_Opal hasn't arrived here yet to troll, just like every other 360 thread.
Prevention:
Don't store it in a low-ventilated place
Do not play for excessive periods of time (12 hours +)
Buy a Jasper chipset xbox
Solution:
Don't try and open it yourself, as if you fail to manually repair it, you will void your warranty leaving you helpless
Send it back to Microsoft if it is still under warranty, do NOT include the original box, you won't get it back.
Take the hard drive off it before sending it back.
Do not use the towel trick, this is a very very temporary fix that may just screw up your xbox even more.
So funny how I know all this and I ain't even getting an Xbox 360 till xmas haha

Dude I put a towel over mine for a few hours and it has worked since for about a year now.
After my first xbox red ringed i got a new one almost immediately, used the towel trick on the broken one and quickly sold it to eb games.
The fuck? What is this "towel trick"?
also, make sure the AV cable is all the way in before you pack it up and ship it off. red ring can also mean an AV cable malfunction.

Take a few towels and wrap it around the 360, turn the console on and let it "overheat" this results in a part inside melting resulting in it working.
It's odd, but works.

To be sure, I would still send it back.
^Agreed. Fucking with the console even further is no better than sending it in for repair.
O hai FP! I have the Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox. If I get the RoD and send the 360 to Microsoft, will I get back mine (repaired), another Halo 3 Console or will I get a normal white one?
I had this once. Took about 3 weeks to get it back ...
My PS3 got the YLoD and my 360 hasn't juddered a twitch for the 3 years I've had it. Very depressing.
