Hey guys, first attempt at a Megathread, i do hope I'm not breaking any laws in any country, or breaking the rules here. Monster Hunter What's a "Monster Hunter" You ask? this thread is about that series of games, awesome games, to add. GAMEPLAY Monster Hunter is like an MMO, it has quests, no storyline, items, crafting, and such, it's not a grind, though. The game (You just lost it.) Is about this, in a nutshell: 1. You arrive in village. 2. You take a quest. 3. You do the quest, let's say it involves killing a Rathalos, you kill it, and gather it's materials. 4. You go to the local blacksmith, and he can create, say, some armor and a sword from the materials. Repeat above, for a long time, this might sound bad, but it surely isn't. I suck at Megathread construction, so I'll just give you a bestiary and such: Monsters Felyne: Crazy cats, in a nutshell, they won't attack you right off the bat, but anger them, and they'll run at you with bombs, sticks, pointy sticks, pointy sticks with rocks on them, you get the idea. Melynx: A relative to the Felyne, they don't attack you with bombs, they steal your stuff, and they are a pain in the ass, when you finally get your hands on that super rare Rathalos Ruby, one will most likely steal it. Remobra: I don't know a lot about these, but they're mini wyverns, and are taken down in a much shorter time than say, a Rathalos. They spit poison. Great Thunderbug: Big Thunderbugs that fly up to you and zap you, can be a pain especially when you're fighting bosses like Lunastra, they can paralyze you. Popo: They're a mix of cow and mammoth, they're relatively docile, and won't attack. Anteka: An Anteka is a deer, it's almost aggressive, but the damage is negligible. Mosswine: A mosswine is like a boar, but a lot less irritating than it's uncle, the bullfango, it eats mushrooms, and it's back is covered in moss. Carving it often gives you mushrooms. Kelbi: The ultimate danger in Monster Hunter, one hit from this beast can kill you, and your whole family! (Being sarcastic,it's the direct opposite.) Aptonoth: A lot like a Popo, just a different model, and older than the Popo. Apceros: A lot like the Aptonoth and Popo, just a lot more aggressive, it will attack you on sight. Vespoid: Uber irritating, and always seem to be there at the worst moments, it's sting paralyzes. Hornetaur: Like a Vespoid, but it neither paralyzes or flies, and the damage is negligible. Velociprey: Basically just Velociraptors, nothing special. Genprey: A relative of the Velociprey, paralyzes. Ioprey: A relative of the Velociprey and Genprey, poisons. Giaprey: A relative of the Velociprey, Genprey and Ioprey, freezes. Giadrome: The "Big Daddy" of Giaprey, makes you a snowman. (Note, picture is shared by Giaprey) Velocidrome: Big Velociprey, dangerous, warning, it can bite. Gendrome: Big Gendprey, can be very dangerous. Iodrome: Big Ioprey, poison lasts longer than that of the Ioprey. Bullfango: Easily one of the most hated adversaries in the Monster Hunter universe. Bulldrome: Bullfango on steroids! Blangonga & Blangos: Snowmonkeys, the Blangonga can freeze you. Conga: Pink monkeys, fart, which denies usage of many items. Congalala: Big pink monkey, can hurl man-sized pieces of shit at you. Hermitaur: Very big hermit crabs, attack in packs. Daimyo Hermitaur: Very, very big hermit crab, can burrow. Ceanataur: Shogun Ceanataur: A big relative of the Hermitaur, is stronger than the Daimyo Hermitaur. Yian Kut-ku: Also known as newbiebane, a big chicken. Hypnock (MHP2G creature) I do not know anything of this thing, as i don't have MHP2G. Yian Garuga: A relative of the Yian Kut Ku, is much stronger. Gypceros: Rubber duck, it's hide can stop many attacks, and it flashes all the time, is poisonous. Plesioth: A water Piscine, it's basically a big dragonfish. Cephalos: A sand piscine. Cephadrome: A big sand piscine. Basarios: A baby Gravios, eats rocks. Gravios: Shoots lasers, makes meme addicts feel giddy on the insides. Monoblos: A one horned wyvern, can burrow. Diablos: Same as Monoblos, but stronger and has two horns. Rathian: A female Rathalos, prefers to patrol from land. Rathalos: The male counterpart to the Rathian, prefers to patrol from the skies. Khezu: A penisdragon, kind of. Shoots thunder. Tigrex: A combination of a Tiger and a T-Rex, a Liger is nothing compared to it! Rahjang: A monkeygorillabull, jumps around a lot. Kushala Daora: A metal wyvern, one of the elder dragons. Teostra: The male counterpart of a Lunastra, often called a fire emperor. Lunastra: The female counterpart to the Teostra, often called the moon empress. (Note, Teo and Luna are both elder dragons.) Chameleos: One of the elder dragons, an oversized chameleon. Kirin (AKA Kelbidrome): A thunderhorse, shoots lightning. Lao-Shan Lung (he got big again....go Felynes!!!): A gigantic elder dragon, moves through mountains and ******s his scales that way. Akantor: Haven't had the chance to fight him yet, but he eats Gravios for breakfast and shoots fire. Fatalis: Perhaps the Ultimate Elder Dragon, one fireball or attack kills you, nearly no matter what. White Fatalis: The Ultimate Elder Dragon, one thunder and you're a scorchmark. Volganos (MHP2G creature): I have not had the chance to fight it... yet. PHEW. that concludes the bestiary, now onto the videos, and note, all of those, except the white fatalis and Rathalos, and Gypceros are in game screenshots from either Monster Hunter Freedom or the second one. And i didn't add any pictures because they don't do the game any justice at all. This concludes it, i hope you enjoyed this topic! I have a lot of pictures of the other creatures, but i had to cut many.
wow, looks quite fun. And i just lost :crying:
wow, looks quite fun. And i just lost :crying:
And the game is not as easy as it looks.
And the game is not as easy as it looks.
It doesn't look or sound easy :v:
I remember when, two days before its release, I was hyped up over the game and wanted to buy it. I didn't. It looks cool, but isn't something I'd pay for.
Does this come on the PC? :q:
Yeah can we get it on PC?
What systems are it on? I hope it's on PC.
What systems are it on? I hope it's on PC.
PS2.
PS2.
Well. That ends this thread for me :/
Hm, what about the PSP version?
HELL FUCKING YES. i loved this game. i wanna buy the new one for psp, but my psp broke :( i LOVE this game.
There is one coming for the wii and psp
Hm, what about the PSP version?
The second PSP version is a huge improvement over the PS2 one.
When you die in this game don't you get revived and picked up by these cat things?
PSP has Monster Hunter Freedom 1 and 2, and 2ndG. It's great, looks good too. Really hard though. It's only fun with multiplayer, in my opinion. There is Monster Hunter for the PC but it's Korean (or Japanese I don't remember) and you need to pay to play, last I heard. It was a flop. They're developing Monster Hunter 3 for Wii right now.
Montser Hunter for the Wii is going to bomb. and I won't be purchasing a Wii just to play it
It may not bomb, I have hope for it. Or at least general curiosity.
I've got Monster Hunter on both PS2 and PSP, but i have to say Monster Hunter Freedom on PSP is alot better than the one on the PS2, i haven't tried MH2 or MH2F
I remember getting this game, got hooked. Reminded of FFXII's hunt system, where you go find your creature/human whatever targets.
PS2.
It's on the PSP, PS2, and there is a japanese MMO called Monster Hunter Frontier, which is for the PC, and Monster Hunter three is planned for the wii.
This game is fucking hard, I've yet to beat the first game.
This game is so fun I can proudly call myself a monster hunter expert I've kill everyone of those cheap a**holes, hunted the Yian Kut-ku to extinction, and rode the Lao-Shan Lung. I Recommend this game to everyone who likes chopping things heads of and wearing it like a hat. There's guns in bombs in it too
Wasn't there a Monster Hunter game for PS2 where you had to watch DVDs to earn monsters?
Mosswine!
Jeeze, this was by far my favorite game of all time. I remember I had my badass Rathalos Tasset and Dark steel boots, along with my Diablos heavy mail and my GMC(?) greatsword, I had so many good times playing that game. I want to go play it again. How is the online? Is it still good? Edit: Bullfango! :argh: Oh, and riding the Lao Shan is freaking incredible, especially while carving away at it's back with your knife, obtaining precious scales.
I've played Monster Hunter Frontier, They give you an option to pay or not but it has disadvantages if you don't, it was fun until i got banned for speaking english :D
I can't wait for Monster Hunter 3 Wii, It will be so fucking awesome. Capcom better not fuck this up.
Aye, I love MHF2, I'm currently trying to finish off the hr5 quests. My armor sets are: Full Guardian Spirit Full Mizuha Full Genesis And Full Kushala Gunner. By the way, has anyone here played the ORIGINAL Monster Hunter? I managed to get to hr20 in that bitch, with full Auroros and BDS.

But the online was an absolute BLAST, I got to about HR 16 before the PS2 became obsolete. Edit: Goddammit, You make me want to go play again. And it sucks that I can't get my PS2 hooked up again. Fuck you :(
