I want to make one, but I don't even know where to start. Could any of you guys lend me a hand here? EDIT: It's ok now, I'm making one: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1066453-I-m-making-a-texture-pack-WafflePack
extract the terrain.png from minecraft.jar and start editing the pixels! most of the folders inside minecraft.jar also have editable textures inside them. i'm sure theres a more detailed guide somewhere, but if you need help with things like packaging you can ask me/pm me.
It's pretty simple, much like a custom skin but on a larger scale. Good luck!
Just edit the .png files in the minecraft.jar file. You can enlarge the file from 16px/block to 32, 64, etc for higher resolution.
Keep in mind, the textures look a lot better in the style they are now. I haven't seen a single good high-detailed texture pack to date. If there is one, could somebody point it my way?

These two are my favourite 32x32 texture packs. What about getting a texture pack- already packed- extract it and edit it? could that work?

What would you have to do after you've done all of the editing to make it work. I mean, do you have to make the background transparent after you're done so the flowers and glass work right?
It's all ok now, I'm making one.
