• Interest for a Dota 2"Team Noobcast"?

Hey there, I am semi confident Dota 2 player, about 75 hours in and really digging into the meat that is Dota; loving learning the ins and outs of all the heroes. I also love to make videos and upload them to youtube, (no evidence will be provided as all vids scattered across multiple accounts) I have been out of making videos for about a year now and have been looking for new opportunities to make some more. Recently, I have been playing Dota2 with a load of my mates, about 12 of us all together and we love to just play some pubs and have some private games as well; we alll enjoy watching the competitive streams ingame and just finished watching the dreamhack event which was amazing. So i was thinking of starting to record and cast some of our games, maybe like 1 or two per week, we are playing about 4-7 games per day at the moment so I can be picky as to which games i deem interesting enough to show. I want to heavily edit the videos; splice in other peoples perspectives, give some commentary, and also subtitle about current events going on in the match. I have been looking around other Dota videos and some of the forums and have seen many a time of newer players, or interested non-players not understanding what exactly is happening, because of this i would love to be able to highlight specific events in-game and explain in terms that anyone can understand what exactly is happening. I just want to gauge some peoples opinions on what people think of this, all participants and most definatley not veteran players, but all have a decent knowledge of the game, i really want to help inform newer players and attract new players into the game. Looking for honest opinions, Cupid P.S. Don't think i want to be one of those big youtubey people, i just want something i can do to occupy some of my time that involves video editing.
You're not gonna be able to make interesting casts with just 75 hours of gameplay. Come back in ~1000.
You're not gonna be able to make interesting casts with just 75 hours of gameplay.
I think you either missed the point or didn't read it. It's to be a learning experience for both OP and the viewers.
I'd sure give a watch every now and then. There was this one "Purge casts a pub" which was definition of low low low. I'd love to see people, maybe not as "low", but climbing on regular basis due to learning curve and their position at it. I'd be willing to cooperate on this, I have a bit more hours into the game, but I was hoping to start at least tinsy casting hobby, spliced with maybe some educational videos as well. All I have for samples of my material are 2 casts of atoD tournament. However audio quality will improve from here onward due to generous help of Reav. I like the sound of this but I have 800~ hours on dota so I might not be fit to join.
I like the sound of this but I have 800~ hours on dota so I might not be fit to join.
1541 here, so what ? He said he wants compilations, insights, spliced perspectives. I doubt higher end Dota-people like Purge, Sunsfan, Luminous, Sheevers and such would be willing to help out with a newborn project like this (Althought I suggest you guys send them a mail or something if you think you can make it interesting, it's a friendly community over there it seems), so why not random willing strangers ? A comment here, advice there, voice clip send, maybe a cast on the side, heck, join a game of 4 newbies + 1 knowledgeable vs 4 newbies + 1 knowledgeable. Those are fun too, it's "who can shephard his pack better".
It's always fun to watch someone learn. I remember when I had time to actually do stuff and wasn't lazy I would just listen to my friends stream of going from bronze to diamond in starcraft and it definately wasn't boring.
I have roughly 240 hours and I'm garbage at dota, I'll take part in anything
Hell I'll watch it.
Thank you for all the advice and insight guys, this has definatly made me seriously consider doing this, I have started out planning ideas for actual content and things, and some menial tasks such as font selection, (the Dota 2 font is Trajan btw) I will be playing a few games tonight with my "team" and will see if any may be worthy of a video.
I'll be watching.
