Im thinking of getting GTA IV since it looks pretty sweet and i've played every other GTA, but im not sure if i could run it.
I can run bad company 2 on medium graphics, and even crysis on medium.
I got 4 gigs of ram, nVidia 9800 GTX, and an Intel Pentium 4 proccessor. Could i run GTA IV with no lag?
Thanks!
Is the CPU Dual or Single, etc? I got a Single Intel 3GHZ, mixed with my old X1950 and 2GB of ram, I was able to play GTA, ONLY JUST. Lagged in rain etc, but was playable, I'd say you will yes. Although your pc might die at points by being bottlenecked by the CPU.
IM doubting you can run Bad Company 2 with a single core, I could barely run it with a pentium D. I dont think you will be able to run GTA IV without it looking like a violent powerpoint presentation.
Dude, definitely upgrade that processor. That thing is a relic. Everything else, yeah it'll handle it fine on medium>high settings. But NOT with that ancient CPU. It's bottlenecking your GPU's abilities as well as having hardly any power. Upgrade for sure.

Yea the CPU fucking sucks, i gotta get a new one if it's possible. So i guess ima go buy the game though, got a game stop not too far from my house.

I did accually run bad company 2 on medium settings. I was fucking surprised myself, though it did lag most of the time, and in the city it was crazy lag, but still playable.
What the fuck? 4 GB of RAM and 9800 + Pentium 4? Are you kidding me?
Do you seriously have a Pentium 4?
I got a Pentium 4, with a 3870 and 2Gb ram. ATM. Its a good rig, hell I can play nearly all games nowadays. I can even play Arma 2. It's not that unlikely for people to have mismatched rigs.

Im not joking my computer is fucking old, it says on the case: Intel Pentium 4 Processor 641 with HT technology.
I added in the graphics card and ram myself.
also is this a better proccessor, enough to run some demanding games right now: [url]http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Intel%26%23174%3B+-+Celeron%26%23174%3B+Dual-Core+E3300+2.5GHz+Processor/9905404.p?id=1218192434880&skuId=9905404&st=cpu&cp=1&lp=7[/url]
Im afraid if you want to upgrade your cpu, you will have to upgrade your motherboard as well.
[editline]07:35PM[/editline]
And your RAM, since probably your Ram is like 120 mhz DDR-1
[editline]07:36PM[/editline]
And your PSU.
upgrade EVERYTHING EVER FOR THE REST OF EVER
The ram i recently bought and it was 60$ for 2 gigs from bestbuy, so that was 120$ right there. It isnt the cheap ram that doesnt make any difference.
The problems is, if you are getting an up to date CPU, you will have to change your motherboard, meaning you will also have to get the same type of RAM.
lolololol Pentium 4!?
No, you can't.
Even if your computer was much better, I would still advise against it. GTA IV is much better on the consoles. Sure, the mods are fun and the video editor is neat, but the game is still riddled with performance problems that are further exacerbated by GFWL.
Xliveless ftw.
