How can I add a normals bump map to a VTF texture?
idont know but u do it in photoshop somehow ill b learning how soon in my class but when i do ill look into helping
Normal maps are fairly easy. Look for the nVidia normals plugn for Photoshop, it will then show up under filters, the default settings are normally fine. After running it, save the image as "texturename_n" so you know it's a normal, then in the .vmt add "$bumpmap [texture_n file path]" I may have the .vmt bit slighty wrong but the developer wiki tells you this. Oh and who needs a damn class to learn how to make textures for Source? Classes do not focus on Source normally, just general texture creation.
VTFedit can generate Normal Maps. Select pic, then this menu will pop up. at the corner it says something about normal maps.
VTFedit Make a jpeg of you vtf Import to VTFedit Generate Normals There.
