Announcement of video game movies should go in video games section.
All of those were terrible.
Holy shit, that was awesome.
The surprise at the end wasn't a surprise at all. This looks fucking retarded.
So you knew from the beginning it was Scorpion?
When they showed the flashbacks it was pretty obvious.
When they showed the flashbacks it was pretty obvious.
i only figured out it was scorpion when they showed that one guy getting reeled back by the hook.
When they showed the flashbacks it was pretty obvious.
It was kinda the point you know.
I hear it's viral advertising for the next Mortal Kombat game, but if this were a movie I'd definitely go see it. Looks like a diamond studded golden trophy compared to this pile of mess:
I like how they use scorpion's game voice when he said "GET OVER HERE" in the end.
I'm so excited if this is a real movie trailer type thing. Got a screenshot of Sub-Zero for you all. :D http://tinyimage.net/misc.php?showseries=NDY3Ml80QzBFQzgzQw%3D%3D&
That makes me think a game.
Isn't it possible that it could be both? I mean, a game releasing alongside a movie is pretty common.
I must say, that was pretty epic.
The videos graphics and special effects lead me to believe it's a viral video for a video game, as well as the screenshot of Sub Zeros face. If it were a movie, the graphics wouldn't have been so easily spotted as fake and the picture of sub zero would have been of a real person with make-up rather than a 3d model. It's a game guys, no doubt about it.
Destructoid's cracked the case!
The eight-minute clip from a purported Mortal Kombat movie that surfaced earlier today has set the Internet ablaze with speculation as to what exactly the footage could be. A live-action teaser for the next Mortal Kombat videogame? A leaked clip from the "upcoming" stuck-in-development-hell Mortal Kombat film? It's actually neither of those things, according to actress Jeri Ryan, who played the part of Sonya Blade in the video and gave out some background details on her Twitter: Okay, so... Mortal Kombat. It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film. [...] I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was. And I'm not sure how you can contact WB to push them to make it. But you guys are resourceful...! ;-) She didn't mention who the director might be, so let's all just hope that it isn't Paul W. S. Anderson. And as for letting Warner Bros. -- who, if you remember, obtained the Mortal Kombat license when they bought the remnants of Midway last year -- know that you want this film to get made, we're as clueless as Jeri Ryan is. Do you guys have any ideas?
I'm not liking this too much; taking the fantasy element out of Mortal Kombat is on par with taking the fantasy element out of Harry Potter.
Got a screenshot of Sub-Zero for you all. :D http://tinyimage.net/misc.php?showseries=NDY3Ml80QzBFQzgzQw%3D%3D&
...How did he mistake someone else for that? Was his brother Robocop?
He mistook Sub Zero's brother which SURPRISNGLY looks similar to Sub Zero. Didn't you see MK Annihilation?
He mistook Sub Zero's brother which SURPRISNGLY looks similar to Sub Zero. Didn't you see MK Annihilation?
I highly doubt that this thing is going to have continuity with the previous MK movies, let alone the games. It just seems odd that something that's trying to put a "down to earth" spin on the MK universe could have two near identical cyborg-men right off the bat.
Oh fuck yes, my favorite character of the series is the main character. If this movie is legit I have to see it.
That was terrible. Trying to turn MK characters into some sort of realistic yet no so realistic excuse. I'll stick to watching the original MK movie thanks, that shit was fun.
Videogame movies pretty much always suck. Oh and the first ones were awful.

In the games sub zero died and became noob saibot and his younger brother became the new sub zero.
That short film is good by itself, but it really doesn't feel like Mortal Kombat at all. It would be absolutely awesome however to have a real new MK movie in which the main character(s) happen to not be the "good" guys (definition up in the air for anyone to take on), such as Scorpion or Sub-Zero (I consider both very dangerous characters and even though my favorite character of the entire MK franchise just happens to be Scorpion doesn't mean that I think he's a "good" guy anyway). In the meantime I'm afraid that the only good MK movie we've had was the original and until a really good sequel comes up it's the only thing we'll have.
The short is compiled with many other sources. Here's the original Sub-Zero shot. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showpost.php?p=551270&postcount=94 I also hear the Reptile scene was taken from somewhere else.
Whoa, never saw the whole 3d view of it. I just took a screenshot of the video. I wonder how they are going to do Sub-Zero. Hopefully, not all CGI.
Looks like a Strog
If they end up making a movie I'd see it in an instant.
But Baraka... what the hell. Stupid.
I love Baraka... They obviously tried to make things seem more "realistic" with the short film.
