Okey I didn't wanna hijack Poodle's thread so I made my own. I've been looking for a few months for a good MMORPG/MMO. Runescape is behind me, not interested in it. Was thinking about WoW but when reconsidering how onesided and grindy it is I decided not too. And I am sick and tired of these asian style MMORPG's. That includes those anime cutsey face ones such as flyff. Champions Online is not my style either, I don't like the setting. So, anyone has some advice for games that I can try?
Dungeons and Dragons Online?
I thought APB would be one but when I heard about the play time bullshit. I did't want to get it.
Dungeons and Dragons Online?
I tried that one out last week. It's kinda..slow, and it's pretty grindy still. I'm considering Warhammer Online as I was fairly interested in WoW. [editline]07:59AM[/editline]
I thought APB would be one but when I heard about the play time bullshit. WoW is not grindy, sure it's not the funnest time from 1-80 but it doesn't take long. Go watch some pvp vids or something, it's the best.
WoW is not grindy, sure it's not the funnest time from 1-80 but it doesn't take long. Go watch some pvp vids or something, it's the best.
Actually it's pretty grindy. They made it easier yes, but it's still the same nutty same from 1-80. And then at 80 you PVP, boost, get gold for no reason, get epic mounts and then dance in the tavern. There's a reason to why most people have 4+ lvl 80's. It just seems more like a game where you achieve a goal rather than actually making progress in something bigger. For example the guilds are pretty useless. That's why WHO interests me, as it actually has a system for the guilds to become powerful and strong, rather than making instances all day. Also the community is shit.
Warhammer Online is awesome, really good if you like the 40K setting.
Warhammer Online is awesome, really good if you like the 40K setting.
So I heard. I just need to check on to some stuff. If I got a debit card, can I just create an account and add a month to it or do I still need to pay the 29.99 euro that buying the game would cost? Also need to check if my graphics card run it, it's not listed but it's pretty good, ati hd 4500.
-snip-, friend is an idiot

-snip-, friend thought it would be funny to post random shit on this account.
Fallen Earth. Im on the trial, it is a prietty good game but the graphics is abit meh..
It's like WoW, you buy the game, and THEN buy the subscription.
But at their page it stays "Buy subscription" and then the prices.
Try Darkeden www.dklegend.com www.twilightde.com
It's like WoW, you buy the game, and THEN buy the subscription.
You can buy the game if you want the disks and the box/manual ect and a free month, but if you just want to download it it's free, then you just pay for the subscription. And yes it is a LEGAL WAY, it's not piracy! example: http://www.bigdownload.com/games/world-of-warcraft-wrath-of-the-lich-king/pc/world-of-warcraft-full-install-client Then when you make your account you can get 10 days free
Darkfall online $1 trial for a week worth of play. Its a sandbox mmorpg, Build boats, weapons, armour and construct bases. But the game is a big grind to get somewhere, Like it would take you awhile to get the constructional skills to build better ships and all. Only great boat i made so far is a raft, Raft's are easy to make though.

It's been a while since I've played but since when was (I'm assuming) Classic free? You can just download the trial and pay a subscription and thats it? Or are you lying to me.
Champions Online, there's a trial too. It costs the same as WoW, and in my opinion it's better. Champions online was a lot of fun, to bad I have no money to buy it :(.
It has a dated graphics engine(though an updated version has supposedly been in the works for a while) and a steep learning curve, but give Anarchy Online a shot. For free you get access to pretty much the whole original game and its first PvP oriented booster pack. If you want expansion stuff you have to buy access and pay a monthly fee though.

PvE Guilds progress in PvE and PvP guilds increase their ranks. http://www.arenajunkies.com/rankings/guild/US/ (Wholesome guys is the guild i'm currently a officer in) As you can see guilds are not useless, and if you wish to argue that than your argument will be retarded because doing anything in a game is useless and have no point either way. Also in cataclysm guilds are getting a over haul and is going to be great. I don't think theres another game that has more to do than world of warcraft end game, the difficulty and progression is probably 1 of the hardest.
Try LOTRO, really high quality MMO now.

I hate people who bash WoW because they don't know shit about it.
Try the HoN beta while it lasts. It's like an improved version of DotA.
Dungeons and Dragons Online?
Steer clear of DDO. It was fun, albeit a huge goddamned grindfest, when it was first released, but now it's F2p. In other words, the game bombed and now they sell the instances that you need to level, among other things. Plus, the F2p crowd is a bunch of dipshits. I suggest either EVE or do an RAF with WoW. Those are the only two MMO's that seem to hold their own. Star Trek Online might be something to look into also, although I haven't had any firsthand experience with the game.
Gonna suggest Guild Wars. It has that look that practically all other MMORPGs have visually, but it plays quite differently from many, and there's hardly any grind. Also, you just buy it once and don't pay a fee which is a plus. May not be for you, but worth checking out if you're looking for something. [editline]01:54PM[/editline] I hear STO isn't all it's cracked up to be, but they probably have fixed a few things now so I guess it'd be worth checking out too.
A couple of good MMO's I had fun with. Darkfall: FPS style MMORPG you run in first person. Its full pvp. Player based economy. Skill based (no "leveling" but you still have to level you skills up to do sh*t in pvp) Completely PVP/GVG(guild vs guild) based game. LOTRO: Based off of Lord of the Rings, you play a character which you create from 8 different classes who follows the fellowship around. Mostly quest based/dungeon based it's a fun game and I can get from 1-20 in about 6 hours. Max lvl currently is 65 although they may/most likely will change it due to the expansions which will come. LOTRO is currently on the Mirkwood expansion (I should say is about to) and they already passed Mines of Moria. PVP is fun although limited to one map but it's a rather large area with 5 different keeps that you can capture and 2 others which are PvE and also can temp capture. 2 starter keeps which is impossible to take. Overall I would give Darkfall an 8/10 and Lotro a 9/10. Darkfall has a pretty engrossing feel, especially to me because I am a FPS (mostly) player, although it seemed like a grind when sometimes I would spend hours and hours a day hitting a guy who would continually heal himself to level up myskills. Not the most fun way to level up but it was the (supposedly) quickest. That was the only grind I saw. Lotro had that "WoW" feel with tons of dungeons you can roam around and if you are a LOTR fan this is a game you want to check out.
APB beta. Its casual, 1-3 Beta Tests a week :D
Everquest II
