Ok, this post is about why the fuck people think GS is everything. People on my realm think GS is fucking everything. I enter TOC25, i have 5.1k GS. The leader says: gtfo mukei(alts name). So im like, wtf? the leader even had fucking 3.9k gs, and attack power gems,(he was a mage) I enter a ICC10, (i get 2 santificated gear) My GS is 5.5k now, So i join this ICC10 Pug, and the leader has 3.4k GS. Im like, WTF? to my guild. They kick me for low dps. I was doing fucking 5.9k DPS. The leader was doing 1.9k dps, and he was a MAGE. MAGE! [/rant] If you had problems with DPS or GS post here.
GS is only good for when you know how much skill the player got. It's not much use for PuGs even though it's overused by PuG reaid leaders.

I hate how many tanks in my battlegroup has lots of icc gear, but they still suck at tanking, GS is not everything.
How do you view gearscore /n00b v:v:v [editline]07:42PM[/editline] You should play on Ragnaros by the way :buddy:
Don't download the addon
Fixed
Blizzard should release a patch that breaks the addon.
http://wtfismygearscore.com/ Use this instead of the in-game addon, now.
I rate people with their peggle scores.

The only thing I ever use GS to do is scale myself. For example, once I get near 5k GS I know I can attempt 10 man ICC or 25 man ToC. Without GS, its kind of hard to decide which raids you are and are not geared for without rushing in and failing a few times. Personally I don't mind when pug leaders use it, as long as they stick to their standards and have a reasonable number.
At low levels, it's pretty helpful because you can see who's using heirloom items on the fly. No heirlooms is about 400 GS at level 40, while someone with heirlooms will have more than 1000.
If you randomly inspect players running around with 5300+ gs, at least 4 out of 10 will be in pvp gear... Most use pvp gear to bump up their GS if they're not in a raidng guild.
It pisses me off a lot because everyone in my guild hates gearscore and we always carry this one DK through all our raids who thinks it's the end-all-be-all of importance. This is the guy that can't get on vent because he can't figure out the difference between the password and the port number, and the guy who spends the entire Lady D fight attacking Darnivan or whatever the weekly npc's name is.
I hate gearscore, luckily a good friend is in a raiding guild so when I hit 80 I will be in that.
It annoys me how much emphasis people put on it to judge how good people are. It should be a glance thing, just so you can roughly gauge how good they are. I've seen retards with 4.7k GS and over and really good plays with 2.1k or whatever.
I believe Gearscore is good to some extent, it lets you see how well their GEAR is and that's all it should be used to do. It shouldn't be used to determine someone's skill. I've Seen decked DPS with high GS doing the worst DPS possible.
No offense or anything but 5.9k DPS with 2pc sanc is pretty bad. What class do you play?
Today I did something that really confirms GearScore is unaccurate. I was doing Onyxia 25 for the first time on my alt, which have just under 4,3k GS. At the last 13%, I was one of 6 or 7 survivors still hitting Onyxia and we downed her. Many of those who were dead had more than 5k GS. Really terrible excuse for skills.

Shit like this pisses me off. It does serve a useful purpose, but it simply allows asshole players to simply write other players off as scrubs. Gearscore is not everything.
I love the gearscore, only because I can just say "5.9k GS resto sham" and I get instant invite. Or.. I link my kingslayer, that works too.

http://wtfismygearscore.com/gearscore.php?n=Sephine&s=Nordrassil&r=EU Its not a bad idea as a general tool to take a quick analysis of a persons gear, people go waaay to far with it though.
my alt dk got into a icc 10 with 4.2k gs and everyone else in the group had 5.5k up.
My gearscore is 5.1k but it prevents me from getting into PuG ICC10s even though I've done a pug ICC10 about 20 times with no problems, I'm a tank btw.

Gearchecking has always happened, GearScore simply gets rid of 30 seconds you would spend inspecting somebody to make sure they're geared enough for your PuG. There will still be idiots in good gear(good gearscore), but that happens with or without the addon anyways. It makes half the job of recruiting somebody into your PuG a lot easier. As long as it's used right (and people don't ask for 5.7k gs for icc10 or something), I think it's fine. My server uses the wow-heroes.com gearscore instead of the addon, though, so it doesn't really matter anyways.
It's no different from all the other meters that get spammed, only the lowest common denominators abuse them in the most idiotic ways Like someone spamming recount in the first few dungeons and gloating about doing 10 more damage than others
