4000th post on facepunch! So me and my friend play minecraft ALOT. And along the way we have discovered and come up with some useful stuff. Alot of you will have discovered some, many or even all of these exploits/tips. So please refrain from rate me late or whine about how you have discovered this all on your own like a big boy. Auto Run! Okay what you do here. Is hit your inventory button and forward ( W ) button almost at the same time. You hit the inventory button first. Do this VERY quickly. It almost looks like you're hitting them at the same time. Easier auto run! ( thanks to Oicani Gonzales ) Whilst walking forward. Tap alt. Then ( at least for me ) the mouse appears and the game freezes. Now click the minecraft window. And there you go. So the TLDR version would be: Hold down W - Tap Alt - Click screen. 100% Faster craft collecting! Lets say you're going to make alot of torches. You put the coal and the sticks in your work area. And you start to click with your left mouse button furiously. But what alot of players don't know is that you can use BOTH mouse buttons. So if you furiously click both mouse buttons, you'll gather your crafted items alot quicker. Faster sand gathering without using shovels! What you do is dig a pit in some sandy area until you hit stone. Then you dig 2 blocks down into the stone. And then you do this: (I made a wider pit so you guys can see more clearly how to do this.) Then remove the above block and then the sand will drop on the torch and become items that you can pick up. And here I'm doing it properly and if you do it like this then you'll gather sand MUCH quicker then with a shovel. Quickly access bedrock ( Falling without taking damage ) Most regular minecraft players know about this. But it's useful nonetheless. Start by digging a 1x1 hole straight down. ( It will get expanded into a 2x1 later on ). Then place ladders all the way down. So you can actually get back up when you're down in your mine. Then widen it to a 2x1 hole. Then Place ladders ( I placed 3 ) on the other side of your hole. Now let yourself fall in the MIDDLE of the side of the hole where there are no ladders. If you are completely up against the wall with no ladders you will land ontop of the ladders and die. This is where I landed: You can also use water at the bottom of the mine. But I prefer to use ladders. Using cobblestone to walk over any surface! ( get over lava without hassle ) Alright so this might be a little hard to explain. You hold shift and walk backwards whilst looking down at a slight angle. Therefore you'll be placing a block behind you before you actually walk on it. Here is me in the position: And here I have done a little bridge of cobblestone by using this method: Speed Hack/WARP SPEED (Thanks to multiple FP users. Mainly Espio for the reminder. ) Simply change the windows clock to be a couple of hours ahead and you'll have speed hack for about about a minute or so. Click-Mining Removed from SMP ( Thanks to Artix3 ) After destroying a block. Let go of you left mouse button and immediately start mining the next block. Same effect as the telekenesis mining but not removed from singleplayer. Ultra-Smooth mouse movement Thanks to Eltro102 Simply hit F8 and your mouse movement will be incredibly smooth. Useful for machinimas. Find dungeons easily Thanks to l33tk00lk1dz49 You hit f3. Now you see numbers above mobs. You see this through blocks as well. Therefore you can walk around whilst looking down ( or walk around in caves ) and try to find clumped up numbers that don't move away from each other which probably indicated a dungeon. Using sand to see mines underground. Thanks to Alfie Get more dyed wool ( thanks to aero1444 ) Dye your wool. Apply it to a sheep. Then Punch the sheep. And now you have potentially more dyed wool. DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE: Telekenesis gathering While holding down the mouse button. Double tap the inventory screen so it flashes up for a quick second. This way your character wont swing the tool hes using but he will just destroy whatever you look at. Therefore when you're gathering there will be no swings that do nothing. Therefore a little faster gathering. But after patch 1.3 came out. Blocks wont get destroyed. The little rubble will appear but nothing more. [editline]1st March 2011[/editline] There might be some that I've forgotten about. Will post if I remember.
Knew most of these things already but I suppose it could be helpful to others. In regards to the double-clicking to make torches part, I actually have a macro assigned to the side button of my mouse which imitates repeatedly pressing the LMB three times in quick succession. I normally use it on games with semiautomatic weapons but I've found it helps for quickly crafting batches of things in MC.
Didn't know about the sand trick, quite useful actually.
Didn't know about the sand trick, quite useful actually.
No more wasting shovels on useless sand!
Holy crap, that sand trick really helps me out.
Lets hope notch won't fix any of these. Especially not autorun and fast sand gathering.
Is this thread also for exploits like moving faster (without using some 3rd party application to manipulate java) I would probably consider it a hack but in singleplayer you can turn your date and time an hour back then an hour forward, resulting in you moving pretty fast You also die faster (it takes like 3 seconds to drown) and mobs seem to move a whole load faster too so be warned.
Is this thread also for exploits like moving faster (without using some 3rd party application to manipulate java)
Hmm. Maybe. I intended this thread to be just about the exploits I ( and my friend ) found. But changes could be arranged.
Hmm. Maybe. I intended this thread to be just about the exploits I ( and my friend ) found. But changes could be arranged.
Well I may just add to your list then, if you feel it doesn't belong here I'll remove it right away I edited my previous post to include it
I knew all of this :(
I use the sand trick but with gravel on mines
Yeah I knew FP would rate me late if the clock would be the first featured rating. Pointless to mention the fact that this isn't aimed to be "OMG AWESOME GUIDE OF NEW AWESOME STUFF"
Start by digging a 1x1 hole straight down. ( It will get expanded into a 2x1 later on ).

never ever do this

never ever do this

If you're making your first mine then you wont have much to lose if you fall into lava.
Dig a 2x1 hole. Dig one extra block down on one side, jump into that little hole, clear the other block at the same level. Rinse and repeat, adding ladders as necessary.
Dig a 2x1 hole. Dig one extra block down on one side, jump into that little hole, clear the other block at the same level. Rinse and repeat, adding ladders as necessary.
This is true.
If you're making your first mine then you wont have much to lose if you fall into lava.
Still, it's a bad habit to get into. Also nobody likes dying no matter how much stuff you have.
Still, it's a bad habit to get into. Also nobody likes dying no matter how much stuff you have.
True as well
You can make an elevator with beds. make a giant solid tower. (preferably with a chest of food at the top) cut a whole out for the bed sleep exit bed close the server (i've only tested on SMP) rejoin. You're now at the top.
Hold W and press Alt Then click ~magic~ follows
Tried it out, was gonna rate you dumb BUT THEN IT WORKED! Slightly more useful that the other auto walk.
Sand trick is a godsend.
Can't believe some of you guys didn't know the sand trick. I swear,I learned on my third day of minecraft. :v:
It works for basically any gravity-affected block as well.
Here's a tip for faster mining (doesn't work in SMP anymore thanks to Notch). I call it click-mining. The way breaking a block works normally is that after the block breaks, there's a half-second delay before breaking the next one. If you release the left mouse button the moment the block breaks, and click it down immediately after, it removes that half-second delay. That may not seem like much, but with a diamond pickaxe, the effect is astounding. tl;dr version: Let go of left mouse, click again quickly, remove mining delay between blocks.
Water ladders are quite useful when making really deep mines.
There's the speed exploit too, which still works. Go into the windows date and time setting and put it a couple hours ahead, then you'll have superspeed!

Saves on time even if it doesn't save on durability. But that's fair enough.
Knew all of those due to alot of personal experience :frogc00l: They're really useful tricks to do though. Highly recommended if you're building or doing anything in general
Does the sand gathering trick work on gravel?
I knew none of these. Why isnt the F8 super-mouse smoothing there?
