UK, December 7, 2009 - EA has confirmed that Visceral Studios is at work on Dead Space 2, with the sci-fi sequel being confirmed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC for release at an unspecified date. An open secret since soon after the release of the first game, Dead Space 2 will see a return of hero Isaac Clarke and the hordes of Necromorphs. If earlier reports are to be believed, it's to be the second part of a planned trilogy. A Wii spin-off, Dead Space: Extraction, was released earlier this year to critical acclaim. The original Dead Space was no slouch either, earning an 8.7 as it became one of the hottest new properties of 2008 and one of the best survival horror games in years. "We're thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac's journey," said Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis in an enthusiastic outburst. "The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it," he carried on, "There are still loads of Necromorphs that need killing. In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you." Other details on the game – including a release window – are scarce, but expect to hear more in the coming months.
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/105/1052704p1.html Fuck yes  New info go The opening of the game finds Isaac on [sp]a space station, The Sprawl, along with the Marker.[/sp] You get to witness [sp]the start of the infection on The Sprawl[/sp] Isaac will speak in this one. Isaac will interact with other NPC's in Dead Space 2. Isaac will continue suffering from mild dimentia as a result of his interaction with the Marker in the first game. Largely similar graphics but slightly updated and refined. More open spaces in which to fight when compared to the largely tight corridors of the first game. More varied weapons. A new "pack" animal that will use sounds to communicate what type of attack its planning. This pack animal will lure Isaac into traps by calling to him in order to lead him into an ambush by the foes you didn't see (think of the Raptors from Jurassic Park). The monsters/enemies in dead space were really creative and scary. Let's hope the next game delivers the same kind of creativity!
I ought to go finish the first one then.
Oh hell yes! Isaacs back! This is going to be so goddamna awesome.
Wait, wasn't this announced way back or am I just tripping balls? :pcgaming1:
Hell yeah. Dead Space 1 was great, just hoping for some more variety this time around.
Fucking awesome.

Sweet
I didn't really like the first one. I mean, the gameplay was great, the atmosphere was really cool, but the fact that you had to spent most of the game searching every single spot in every single room for ammo of medkits just really fucking annoyed me.

Well, you often have a fair amount of ammo, enough to see you through each encounter just by searching 1 or 2 boxes, same as every other survival horror game?
I sure hope the EA Store breaks again so I can get this sequel too :v: Though I think the devs deserve some money from me this time.
The sequel was expected, and it deserves to be made. The first one was so awesome, I couldn't help but to think how much inferior games like RE5 were compared to it when I first played it through. I love horror games and this game satisfied my hunger for good scares, the atmosphere and gameplay was spot on aswell.
The scares weren't exactly great, but god damn the atmosphere, story and gameplay were fantastic in the first one.
I would like to see the ADS cannon again... ... as a portable weapon
I know some of you disagree but Dead Space is one of the few games that still freaks me out. The atmosphere was brilliant, the entire being on a spaceship thing was awesome. Not only that, it felt like a real space ship, seeing as you explore the whole thing.
Well let's hope they keep it fresh. I don't want this to just be another sequel that just changes a few things. Surprise us.
I hope they follow the original formula though, if they try to change it up too much I don't think it'll work too well. Hope they add Novint Falcon support for PC, that would rock.
Hm, I'm not sure about the scenery either. WIll it still be the loved Claustrophobic corridors or will it be drastically new? I'm not sure which sounds more appealing, though I realise why the cramped corridors were put in in the first place.
I hope it's a bit less repetitive though. Other wise Dead Space was pretty sweet.
Gonna go out on a limb here but... Didn't Issac get killed by his dead necromorph wife or something? Been a long ass time sense I played and all's I remember is that screamer ending

I don't want a port from the 360 to PC this time.
What was so bad about the pc port? It was a lot better than the console version from experience.
What was so bad about the pc port? It was a lot better than the console version from experience.
Turn on vsync and you'll see why.
Meh
I should finish the first one then. Although I just got it because I didn't have internet, it's the 360 version and it looks awful on my TV. Mostly because my TV is tiny...
I can't wait for them to start releasing concepts. The concepts for the first game were a near perfect representation of what they were finalised as.
dead space never really scared me, but the atmosphere, gameplay, and storyline were brilliant. except for the fact the the one of the plot twists, [sp] Nicole being dead[/sp], was obvious from the beginning. no one could have survived, and to me at least, it was obvious form level one that [sp]she was dead[/sp] and the fucked up ragdoll physics always made me laugh. hope the second one as good.
