TRAILER
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO_HG5drmoY
I loved Red Faction Guerrilla, i played it on ps3 and beat it, the game is amazing and the story is pretty cool too. I have to say that Red Faction Armageddon is NOTHING like i expected it to be like,or at least looking at the trailer it isn't... like allot of people are saying in the comments it looks like "dead space" which is nothing like red faction in the least... I'm actually thinking about not getting it because, most of the area's that your in, in the trailer don't look like anything i would want to play in, i remember seeing a place that looks similar to a dark cave, it had lava inside of it, in the trailer, i think...Mason is speaking and he is saying " They drove us under ground " i think he is referring to the EDF i don't know how the city's could have gone to hell but i am really looking forward to the story. The main character is either, many years after the end of the previous red faction or, a completely diffrent character then Mason, because he looks VERY diffrent. I don't really see that much of a change graphics wize, but i'll keep you all posted if something else comes up.
Isn't that the only video released of Red Faction Armageddon? All you saw was a debut trailer, how can you say it was nothing like you expected it to be and decide not to get it just because you see underground fighting and judge what the story is?
They aren't trying to tell us the complete story. This is the part where they start hyping it up a bit so people will follow.
If you're going to post your opinion for everything you think of when you see a trailer, make sure you're not just saying exactly the same things people are wondering about.
Hmm. This isn't what I expected. No wait, the trailer isn't as you expected the game to be, even though you had no info on what it was going to be.
Hmm. I don't like the areas shown in this trailer. Maybe I won't buy it, hey was that lava?
Either it's the same guy or it's another guy as the main character.
Graphics looks the same (might be because they are reusing the engine:downs:)
214 words without actually saying anything. :golfclap:
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. It goes for game engines too.

I really liked this engine. Things could get a little boring over time, but there would always be something to blow up.
Singleplayer needed the reconstructor though. :v:
There was some save file somewhere where every building was still standing. I played that save file so many times I've logged about 172 hours of playtime. :v:
I was hoping they'd continue the story from Guerrilla. I'm kind of disappointed, but I'll still at least try the demo for this.
The graphics aren't majorly updated, but damn those new lighting effects look sexy.
"God fucking dammit, they made it horror."

k
RF1 was the only good Red faction. 2nd one was alright
I didn't like Guerrilla but this seems interesting.
Im already sold.
Multiplayer in the previous one was fucking amazing. Killing people through walls, fucking shit up with axes or blasting your way upwards through a building (anime blast through everything style), trying to kill the guy at the top is just brilliant.
Looks like Dead Space
I wonder if there will be a town named after Mason, like what they did with Parker.
My reaction:

I don't think this is gonna be a good game.
As long as they bother to make it fucking work on 64 bit operating systems this time round I'm good.
Looks cool, kind of like Alien.

Until people stopped playing it.
The xbox version is dead as a nail.
Sold! Can't wait to see what Saint's Row 3 is going to look like.
I like how OP clearly hasn't looked up anything about it other than the trailer since THQ said that you were playing as Mason's grandchild.
The first was underground too and it was awesome.
Going underground and adding monsters is the shittiest idea I've ever heard. They should just go back to the series' roots. No third person, no free-roam, no aliens, no horror.
Just a good and lengthy FPS campaign with all of the great tech they got at the moment.
Alright, I've had it with the 'RF1 and 2 were the only good RF games' BS I'm seeing so much of.
Red Faction Guerilla is literally the only good game in the RF series. Up until then, RF as a series was nothing more than an average FPS with a destructible wall gimmick - only the devs seemed to forget about said gimmick about a quarter of the way into the singleplayer campaign, so really, it's just another mediocre FPS. You guys want underground and corridor-shooting, you can get exactly the same thing in pretty much every FPS ever created.
As I said in the News Node thread for the trailer, I'm intrigued by the whole 'driven underground by an apocalypse-worshipping cult/simultaneously fending off Martians' thing they're getting going. But I'm a little sceptical of the fact that other than the destructible terrain, this is taking a step back to its predecessors (which is not a good thing) and becoming just another average TPS with a destruction gimmick. I'll keep tuned to this, but otherwise, I'm not getting my hopes up.
Red Faction Guerrilla was absolutely immense, and for that reason... I'm sold.
Couple paragraphs ranting about RF
I'm guessing you never played the multiplayer for the original RF. Capture the flag was INTENSE since players were literally digging tunnels into your base and circumventing all of your defenses.

No. Only the first one is good.
Only the first one.

no third person, no aliens, final destination

Even the singleplayer was immense. zpiscool clearly fails to recall that every FPS of the original Red Faction era was a corridor crawler.
Difference was that RF was a corridor crawler with an amazing story line, awesome weapons, nice visuals, some interesting destruction and some genuinely wonderful set-pieces.

This.
