I was playing Opposing Force and as I just left the first lab area, about ten minutes into the game "Abide By Me" from the 28 Days Later Soundtrack started playing randomly. I know first hand that I closed my iTunes prior to playing the game. It was really creepy. Has this kind of thing happened to any one else before?
EDIT:
It also played sort of like an in game audio track, as when I paused the game, the music continued playing.
Apparently you had it on random or something. That song isn't part of the game.
There was no media player open when I played the game, somehow it picked the file out by itself as a game music file or something. This has happened before in other games too, might I have a virus. If so, sorry for posting here, thought it was game-related.
I don't know what it is, but I can assure you it is not related to the game.
No, this has happened to me in normal Half Life. It started playing something from my library out of the blue and I had nothing else open. It is definitely related to the game, when I checked the console it said something about some sort of serverside music player or something.
Music events in HL and OP4 relied on the CD-ROM back in the days where you needed it to play.
This behavior is still active and thus will read anything currently in your DVD rom if it has tracks.
there was a similar thread some time back where smooth jazz started playing during blue shift, do you have a CD in your computer?
Yep, I had the 28 Days Later Soundtrack in my Computer, I guess it makes total sense. Thanks for the help!
That would creep me out if it wasn't for The explanation

Yeah, that was my reaction before coming to Facepunch. Oh, here's the song, which adds to the creepiness:

Now I want to play Opposing force and put a data disc in and listen to the shreaks.
This happens occasionally on PCs. My old PC used to play the audio from an old Transformers cartoon episode on start up.
I had the same problem with half-life 1. It would play random music thats on my computer. Once it played Weird Al and I was "wtf".
It happens if you have a music CD in your disk drive. It played music from that for some really odd reason.

"OH FUCK I'm so scared... Luckily this is only a game.

I would have shit my pants if that came on. Seriously, the brown stuff would be flowing down my legs and into the carpet by the time I figured out what was gonig on.
if that started playing in the voltigore nest tunnels i would have exploded into a flurry of shit
I once had this really creepy soundtrack on my computer, which started playing while playing Opposing Force, on the sewers part where those giant ass things are. Holy shit I felt my fucking sanity dripping away, it was really horrifying exprience.

This happened to me in HL. I was playing the game and it randomly started playing I'm Impressed by They Might Be Giants. I was like "Wait a second, this isn't right..."
I feel awesome if Blue wraith Shaun of the dead theme played during the first zombie Appearance
Does this apply to Half-Life Source?
Because if so, I would love to beat the shit out of all the enemies while Bleed It Out is playing.

Only in the original.
I thought this only happened when you were loading a map in any HL1 engine-based game, not in-game. Learn something new everyday, I guess.
