What is the Disenchant roll for? Not quite sure what it does. Does Greed override DE in the way that Need overrides Greed? I ask because 5 minutes prior to posting this, a mage in my random Heroic group was arguing with a shaman who decided to Greed roll on a blue (I did as well) and he won, but the mage said he should have rolled DE as rolling Greed means he gets to keep all the money. He went on and on about terrible behaviour, how it's unacceptable and greedy (really?) and when I intervened and told the mage to drop it and let him have the damn thing, he ignored us both. What the hell?
The DE roll disenchants the item if there is an Enchanter with high enough skill to DE said item. As far as I've seen, greed doesn't overthrow DE, but I remember some time before 3.3 reading that it was going to overthrow it... And that Mage is stupid, had the Shaman rolled DE and won it, he could have just sold the mats on the AH and got to "keep all the money".

Ah, here is a blue post about it:
There has been some confusion regarding looting items when using the new Dungeon Finder system so we would like to take a moment and provide an explanation for some of these new features. We also introduced a “disenchant” option that is open to all classes on all items whenever a player with the sufficient level of skill in enchanting is in the group to disenchant the item that just dropped. If the winner of the item has selected this option the item will automatically be disenchanted and the resulting material(s) placed in the character’s bags instead of the item. Just like it was before the patch, disenchanting any item is not reversible and the item is permanently removed so you should only select this option if you have no plans to use the item or trade it to another player. The “greed” option is open to all classes and all item types but the players who roll greed will also roll against those who select disenchant. The reason for this is that if an item is not a high priority and/or eligible to be rolled “need” on, then other players running the dungeon have an equal chance to get a reward for defeating the encounter.
http://blue.mmo-champion.com/1/21971497968-looting-items-in-the-new-dungeon-system.html I cut out some stuff as it's just general knowledge that apparently some people didn't have. So Greed and Disenchant rolls have the same chance of winning the item, so whoever rolls higher gets it.
First things first. Greed and Disenchant work on the SAME level, neither overrides each other. Disenchanting rolls can be a lot more profitable for some items if you AH the mats, Epics from the bosses disenchant into Abyss Crystals, I don't know about your server economy but on mine Abyss Crystals sell from 50g - 70g If you win the roll with a Disenchant Roll you get the disenchanting mats, the person who wins it keeps it all

lol thanks for posting what i already posted guys im sure that help get the point across :downs:
Someone rolled a disenchant (50) and i rolled a greed (50)... i got the loot.
Greed = Disenchant Need > Greed Need > Disenchant Disenchant option is only available if you have an enchanter of the required level to disenchant the item in question.
Someone rolled a disenchant (50) and i rolled a greed (50)... i got the loot.
When two players get the same roll there's instantly a "new hidden roll" which decides who gets it. Same thing if two greeders would get 50.
The mats will typically sell for more on the AH.
I keep all the mats I get from DEing level 80s, it really saves a lot when you go to enchant some new gear
It appears that greed beat my disenchant roll.
