• Flash drive/lightweight games

Hiya. This week at school someone put Halo on the schools computers. the entire exam schedule was ruined because the schools server was being abused by at least 100 computers at once all playing a LAN match of halo 1. It was pretty epic, the french kids had to retake their exams because they couldn't submit their scores to the server. ANYWAY It got me to thinking, I need some games to play at school when I have nothing to do. They can be free or purchasable, just make sure that they don't take too many resources, and that they're lightweight. Of course, where is a thread without it's content? [release][url=http://cymonsgames.com/asciiportal/]ASCII portal[/url] [img_thumb]http://www.gamesandgeeks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/ascii-portal.png[/img_thumb] A bit redundant now that everyone and his mother has a copy of portal, but this lightweight, 2D, ASCII version of portal is pretty genius. Complete with forward momentum, gravity, and re-correcting cameras when it comes to going out of a portal on a wall. ASCII portal is just like the real thing, but with even more challenging levels[/release] [release][url=http://www.cs2d.com/]Counterstrike 2D[/url] [img_thumb]http://www.riosbatarce.cl/counterstrike/mapas/2D/de_dust2.jpg[/img_thumb] Counterstrike 2d is an top-down shooter based off of counterstrike. It's got everything counterstrike does, and more, such as turrets, walls, and other buildables. You collect cash by picking it up, or killing enemies. It has a mapmaker, customizable sprites, and LAN play, which is perfect for school play.[/release] [release][url=http://www.ganggarrison.com/]Gang Garrison 2[/url] [img_thumb]http://gamenight.4leafcoder.com/__oneclick_uploads/2009/02/ganggarrison2.jpg[/img_thumb] Another 2d remake, this time of Team Fortress 2. It has everything TF2 Does in 2D 8bit form. Multiplayer, however no lan unless your forward your ports, which is probably pretty hard for schools.[/release] [release][url=http://store.steampowered.com/app/70/]Half-Life[/url] [img_thumb]http://members.aye.net/~gharris/blog/halflife04.jpg[/img_thumb] If you've got a big enough flash drive or maybe an external harddrive, install half-life onto it with steam, and you can play that. If you have a few extra accounts lying around you can LAN play with a few buddies. Same concept applies for TFC, CS1.6, and DOD. If you have an original copy of it you may not need steam and you could copy it to your friends drives.[/release] [release][url=http://www.idsoftware.com/games/doom/doom2/]Doom[/url] [url=http://www.idsoftware.com/games/doom/doom-ultimate/]1 & 2[/url] [img_thumb]http://revistagames.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/doom11.jpg[/img_thumb] Yes, doom. I'm sure you're smart, google how to set up LAN, because I'm not typing it out here...[/release] [release][url=http://www.bungie.net/Projects/HaloPC/default.aspx]Halo[/url] [img_thumb]http://files.xboxic.com/xbox/halo/halo1.jpg[/img_thumb] Trust me, this will work on just about any computer, and is the epitome of LAN at school. It's an amazingly fun game, and is 10x more fun on the PC then the xbox. Switch off between your friends trying to re-enact the assassination as perfect as possible.[/release]
Cave Story. VVVVVV.
'Peggle' & 'Plants vs. Zombies'
Uplink is fun to play. I put it on the network because there was some skipping when playing thru the flash drive.
Winquake, Skyroads, God of thunder and 100's of flash games
Is it really this time of the month again? Wow, these threads come round quicker each time.
My school disabled the USB ports for students.
[QUOTE=radioactive;22541843]My school disabled the USB ports for students.[/QUOTE] Clever girl.

Spelunky. You. Will. Never. Stop. [sp]you'll never win either[/sp]
Beat Hazard and some music
Oh god, we did the exact same thing! I put Assault Cube on all the computers a few months ago, and last week my friend put Halo on them. :buddy: Best. Quarter. Ever.
Halo CE became somewhat of an epidemic at college, so much that they actually started blocking every executable that even contained "halo" in it at all. Obviously we bypassed it the same way we did with Google Chrome (chrome completely ignores the college's internet turn-off system), used a hex editor to change every instance of "google" to "vagina" and "chrome" to "dildos". Vagina Dildos, the fastest browser around. :downs:
Starcraft anyone?
External HD for Half Life? Pshhh. It's only 1 gig.
NetHack, look it up, it can be pretty addicting.
You forgot dwarf fortress
There's a kid who plays Halo everyday before school. Anyways Elona is pretty good.
Age of Empires 1 & 2
Add Dwarf Fortress.
Isn't DF really laggy when you play it off a flash drive? Add Iji and Battleships Forever too.
Assault cube.
Urban Terror
Dunno if it meets the criteria, but how about Deus Ex? Dunno if the retail version is still in production/circulation but [url=http://store.steampowered.com/app/6910/]it is available on steam[/url]. Its also about 900mb/1 gig installed.

crysis
I enjoyed bringing my external hard drive to tech camp last summer and during breaks/whenever I felt like it I'd open Steam and play TF2. Nobody cared, it was boss, some other kids had it too and we played LAN matches (that and UT3/Warcraft 3)
On my thumb drive I have Sniper Elite, Duke Nukem 3D, and JFK Reloaded.
I've seen a lot of people playing Call of Duty 4 off their Thumb drives or HDDs, I've got it on mine to but I don't play it. In Highschool we used to play a lot of Alien versus Predator (original) and Tremulous. I feel kind of bad because i'm the one that brought them in and started the whole "playing FPS's in class" fad at my school XD.
Trine, Beat Hazard. Both weigh in at under 550MB and are extremely fun, beat hazard will be bigger depending on how much music you're gonna use. [editline]12:32PM[/editline] or HellMOO. If you got an internet connection you can just play on the website.
