[url=http://www.konjak.org/section.php?section=princess]Legend of Princess[/url] is a freeware Zelda fan game by Joakim Sandberg.
The game is short and relatively straightforward but it has really good pixel art graphics. I especially like the satirical portrayal of Link.

There's some basic puzzle solving and secrets to find, two mini bosses, and a final boss.
What I really like about the game is the unique way it deals with items. At the beginning you choose which two items you want to use throughout the game: the first item is offensive, the second allows you to move around better. The difficulty of the game depends on which choices you make as some items are harder to use. It's cool how all of bosses and levels can be defeated in different ways using all of the different item combinations.
Here are the items from least difficulty to greatest.
[u]Offensive Items:[/u]
[b]Boomerang[/b]: Returns to you after being thrown and can pick up items for you.
[b]Bow[/b]: Fires in a straight line
[b]Bombchu[/b]: Runs along the ground and explodes when it touches something or its fuse runs out. It can hurt you if you're too close to the explosion!
[u]Movement Items:[/u]
[b]Feather[/b]: Allows you to double jump
[b]Hook Shot[/b]: Attaches to walls and ceilings to let you climb or swing around.
[b]Cucco[/b]: You can fly slowly when holding it or you can throw it at enemies to do damage.

This is what The Legend of Zelda 2 should have been.
