I am currently Head Level Designer for an upcoming mod, "The Post Zombie Apocalypse Simulator". (This name is a work in progress.) This single-player mod will consist of a free-roam world where your game is molded based on your decisions throughout the mod itself. We have a team of three currently, 2 mappers, and a fresh slate available to learn a new skill. We have posted several ads and reached out to several of our known friends for assistance on this mod. The only media we have at the current moment is a background image, but this is only because the team was started today, you may see this background image here:

We don't ask that you are an extreme professional in C++, but it will be desired that you know what you're doing. If you can teach, I know our team leader, Duton, is willing to learn and help with the coding.
Examples of what we request from this coder will be given to via email or steam. We plan to have group meetings each time our members are all online while our team remains small, but we do request that dialogue is made each day between members of this team.

You probably want someone with more experience though, since I have no artistic direction or high knowledge of triggers.
I don't think somebody learning C++ for the first time will be able to code for this project.

That looks like a decent start. We are considering adding you to the team, but we would like you to make a new map that uses the Ep2 configuration. It should have displacements, gritty details, foliage, and good lighting. Once we look at that we will see if you are fit for the team or not.
Details regarding triggers and NPC's will be explained to you if you do join.

Probably not, but That doesn't mean I can't learn and watch and later on assist, not coxe the entire thing, but assist.

I must commend OP though for being the first ideas guy to actually use proper English, with spelling and grammar that isn't pure abortion in sentence form.
The reason you make a mod and not a standalone game is that if you do decide to make a game with Source, you must either do so illegally or pay Valve (Like Zeno CLash, for example).
And you are forgetting I am a level designer. Making a map like what I described is a challenge, but not impossible.
