I just wanted to make a thread were anyone can come in and give a sort of background on what type of game, the price and what system it is for, so that other people (such as myself) will try to give you advice.
I will start:
I have around 40$ and im Interested in action games, I was thinking of getting Team Fortress 2, Altitude and something else, but I also like sandbox games, please give me some advice.
I just realized that I created this thread in Valve games and mods, but I meant to put it in General Games Discussion.
get tf2
get tf2
Are there still a lot of team fortress 2 players online, or is the bandwagon getting empty, you know, cuz no one wants to get on an empty band wagon )=
Orangebox.
Set for at least 1 year of gaming.
Also, TF2 is like the 2nd most played game on steam. Does that answer your question?

Yes thanks.
Orangebox.
You should have made this thread in the General Games Discussion forum instead.

I just noticed that....Shit. Talk about it in general I made a mistake. I hope a mod moves this thread to general Games discussion.
TF2 is a great game, i bought it about 2 months ago and havent got bored yet. i would also say bfbc2, i was thinking on buying this game in the four pack, but the fourth guy decided not to.. nbtw this one costs $49, so save some more money if you want it
Orange Box, and if you have alot of music Beat Hazard.
Orange box. Best deal ever.
Orange box. Best deal ever.
I wouldn't say it's the best deal ever.
The Valve Complete Pack is the best deal ever, it's like 22 games for $100.
That plus I think the price drops down to $50 during the holiday season (aka Christmas time)
But then again it really depends on what you have already.
And for the sake that OP pointed out he wanted all games.
The THQ pack is not bad, I know I got that for $50 and I found the games included entertaining.
Counter Strike Source and Team Fortress 2, there both 20 bucks I still believe so thats your 40 dollar spending gone :)
TF2 has thousands of servers online at any one time. It's an awesome game. You won't be disappointed. Don't buy it yet though - keep watching the TF2 subforum because there's the Engineer update coming soon. When there's a class update Valve puts on a free weekend so you can see if you like it or not.
tf2, and if you hate zombies: Killing Floor
Im getting the orange box, since it is on offer. So I will have 20 $ left, what should I get with those?

Buy the original Half Life, along with Blue Shift and Opposing Force. That's 20 bucks, and you'll know the whole story when you play Half Life 2. The original games were extremely fun to play, and I'm sure you'll enjoy them.
Edit: I just looked again, and you can buy the Half Life 1 Anthology for 15 bucks. And it also comes with Team Fortress Classic. Then you can spend the remaining 5 bucks on Ricochet. :smug:
Is ricochet any good?
Is ricochet any good?
No.
I could go on forever about Team Fortress Classic as that's where I have been for ages. 4.99 $ in Steam store http://store.steampowered.com/app/20/.
What makes TFC kind of unique is the way mappers was able to create maps. I know lua is more complex and can do much more, but you need a fair amount of coding skills to pull off something good. In TFC (and other Gold source games) you had the goal based entity system. With it's triggers and relays you could create entirelly new game plays. If you are looking for active ctf communties and servers you won't find much, but they exist. But the enormous amount of custom maps makes it worthwhile to explore.
Roughly the custom maps are divided in Fun and Skills maps. Fun maps can be anything from labyrinths, escape maps, hide and seek, totally random button pressing maps but also climb, surf, bhop, strafe maps.
In skills maps you use rocket launchers, pipe grenade launchers and concussion grenades to run through various obstacle maps, so called concmaps and quad maps.
To get under the skin of a game as old as TFC today you need to get into a community dedicated to one of these types of game plays.
A very old Fun community is Feckin-Mad (Forum: http://fm.myklol.net/forum/)
On Euroskillz you find most skills maps ever made + fun maps (http://www.euroskillz.eu/)
For pub ctf you could try http://games-inside.nl/ or Drippys 2fort (24/7) 2fort.
I manage Euroskillz together with a bunch of die hard fans, and we are still alive and kicking. As we want TFC to survive we try hard to help newcomers who want to try this out.
Here are some videos to give you a hint of what TFC was and is about: http://www.youtube.com/user/Euroskillz4Ever.
And here you can see a list of servers (bots inside () ): http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?vars=&game=tfc
4.99 $ is still worth it.
Riochett.
Get garrysmod too if you don't already have it.
Orange box + Gmod.
I'm looking for a FPS puzzle game. I've already played Portal. I want something.. more action.
Minor bump, but I figured this didn't deserve a thread.
I'm looking for a realistic racing simulation game, preferably with a demo.
You know, you start with some cash, buy a car, win races for more cash, eventually get a super car or something...
It may help to know that Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec is the best game I have ever, ever played. Ever. Seriously. It's my absolute favorite game. I liked everything about it. If you've played it and know any similar racing games, you know. Tell me. Please.
EDIT: Oop this is in the Valve section. Rate me dumb or books please.
EDIT: Okay, since I couldn't find another thread about this, I made my own in a more fitting section. Responses to this post can go here, thanks.
I need a game where it is a total sandbox, realistic and an FPS. Not Gmod, though. Also should include an editor.
I have $10 to spare and I'm looking for a good action/racing/rpg on Steam. I was thinking about getting Deus Ex, but I would like to know what other options would be good.

Maybe you should pick up Just Cause 2. It's not exactly realistic though...
"Not exactly realistic" is an understatement.
It's not an FPS, either.
