Ok, so I share the account with my brother, and since he likes to be Assassin's Creed little dog (he loves that series), he decided he can change our account avatar when he wants to that main character. He didn't even ask me if I would like to change it. So I need to know if there's anyway to lock my profile so that he can't change the avatar.
Thanks.
You can't just ask him to stop changing the avatar.
I don't think you can.
Get him his own steam account and buy him the game.

Well, that would work for you. He just says to me: "you change the avatar when its your time to play"
And I already have to change my name when its my time to play.

We have over 20 games.
Although he only plays 5 of the 20 games.

Then threaten to lock him out of your account if he doesn't stop changing your avatar/name.
If he starts bitching, lock him in the shower.

Thank you good sir.
change your password and tell him to fuck off from your account.

Its not mine. Its ours.
When I say: go get an account for yourself, he says: no, the games I payed for are here.
Which is a lie. The games he "payed" for are only Counter Strike Source and Assassin's Creed. The rest I took part in the payment.
Push one of the little arrows in the top-right corner of the Steam window. It will minimise Steam, and if he doesnt know how to change it back he wont be able to get to the Steam Community

Don't you change it by clicking on the Steam icon at the down-right corner of the desktop?

No
No
So how do you do it, then?
Dont you see those 2 arrows on the top-right of the Steam window ?

Yesssss...?

That would only work if he was too dumb to go View > Community.
OP, if I were you I'd just pay him back for the stuff he paid for and tell him to get his own account.
Edit: better yet, make him a new account and buy him the games he paid for while they're on sale.
You're not meant to share Steam accounts so of course there's no way to do this.
You're not meant to share Steam accounts so of course there's no way to do this.
Of course there is. We both use the same account.
Thanks for the arrow thingy, gonna try.
Sharing a Steam account is against the Steam Subscriber Agreement and could get your account disabled.
You are solely responsible for all activity on your Account and for the security of your computer system. You may not reveal, share or otherwise allow others to use your password or Account.
Please do not share accounts.

I think you guys didn't understand.
We have an account.
We both play on that account. Its the same account.
We both play on the same computer with that account.
We just change the name.
[editline]04:25PM[/editline]
And its actually better since we BOTH pay if we want a new game.
[editline]04:26PM[/editline]
I think that you guys are thinking that we share, when sharing means that we have different computers and we both use the same acc.

Only one person is the account holder, and sharing an account with another person is not allowed.
Letting a friend over at your house to let him test a game out on Steam is technically against the rules, but Valve is not that strict. However, sharing is still against the rules, and that's exactly what you are doing.
Sharing means having more than one person on the same Steam account.
The account is only allowed to have one account holder, for legal issues and all that stuff. (credit card fraud)
Call a ceasefire, then go find/make an avatar together that you both like.
Honestly though, sharing an account is stupid and probably violates the EULA. I suggest you set up two accounts before you get in trouble.
Oh snap, now I have a reason to make him get his own account.
[editline]04:37PM[/editline]
Is there anyway they get to know if someone is sharing the account.
Uninstall steam and block the steam powered website for about a week he will forget or go insane.

By posting a thread about it on a public forum, yes.
The son of a bitch doesn't wants his own account. He says there's no way Steam can know.
I'm fearing for my games :crying:

Valve won't take them away.
Valve won't take them away.
Oh no?
okay let me say this.
valve doesn't give two shits if you and your brother use the same account and on the same computer.
they can't find it out unless they check all accounts 24/7 by looking "oh look that guy changed his avatar and nickname. probably someone's using it and the IP's are the same!"
Stop sharing the account or Valve will send a white van round your house and bundle you and your brother in and no one will ever see you again.
give him his own for his birthday with CS:S and assassins creed and some new game.
If it is far away, just get CS:S, and Assassins creed and kick him in the balls if any till he submits and uses the new one.
Or just change the password to your old one and tell him the only way to play the games is to use the new one. But still kick him in the balls.
