Tibia is one of the oldest and most successful MMOs ever created in Europe. For over 10 years now, players have been visiting the medieval world of Tibia. At present, more than 250 000 players from all over the world inhabit the Tibian continent enjoying the numerous game features.
Gameplay
Gameplay involves advancing levels while training to improve skill levels, hunting monsters using weapons and magical spells, gathering treasures, doing quests and exploring the huge world. Players interact with each other in character for conversation, trade and group battles and partake in guilds for more role-playing opportunities. On most of the game's servers, players are also allowed to attack and kill each other, although there is a system in place to keep hostile actions under control called the skull system. Some servers do not allow such player versus player combat at all, while others encourage it by rewarding experience for kills.
When you die, you'll drop everything in your backpack unless you have bought a blessing, which magically protects it. You'll also have a slim chance of losing something you're wearing on you, so there's always a high penalty if you die. This opens up a few nice possibilities through:

You can loot those poor bastards who got killed by a monster.

You can player kill either regular players, or player killers to earn money (there's no penalty for attacking a skulled player killer, but you get a skull for attacking a non-skulled player)
When creating a character, over 74 different worlds (servers) can be chosen from. While each world is exactly the same in appearance, players cannot communicate cross-server, and some worlds (non-PvP) do not permit player-versus-player combat, while some others enforce it (PvP enforced), where they gain experience points for killing others.
A paid character transfer service to transfer your character into an another world has recently been implemented, but it's not yet available.
I myself play in Amera (an english PvP-server), with my level 28 mage character: Alrus Windwalker. Add me if you play there too.

Couldn't have said it better.
Woah, that perspective is giving me vertigo.
I remember my friend who played this for hours on end.
It sucks.
Played this years ago, it was pretty fun (way back before WoW was released).
It lasted until i made a ladder to climb a hill that couldn't be reached otherwise, then some dick destroyed my ladder.
I was stuck for days and had friends searching for items that could make a new ladder.
runescape clone :/
Used to play it a lot. Not bad.
Although the "BR?" and "PL?"s did get irritating.
Better than it looks, give it a try I say.
runescape clone :/
Runescape is a way better game.

No wonder, that's why it sucks balls.
This game is awesome, yes the graphics are dated but the game is such a lovely experience if you have an attention span thats longer than 5 seconds and dont require yourself to be babysat through the entire game.

You're so wrong.
Tibia is fucking terrible, this is not an opinion it is a fact.

Andrew! What have I told you about first names?! :argh:
The game may look shit, but it's actually pretty fun.
I used to play, but I stopped playing after 8.4 came out due to that update broke my game and would get a fatal error every couple of minutes.
I might go back to it one day, I was known as Gyper on the Amera server, I was a level 60 elder druid.
Word of advice to DarkSunrise: Get the postmaster's quest done and the pirate island quest done as well. It's a really awesome spot to level at, and a great place to make a lootbag. On top of that, eyepatches, peg legs, etc go for about 400g a pop.
You will never find a more wretched hive of noob scum and hax villainy.

No.
It was fun when you could still lure Giant spiders around to more populated areas.

It's still possible to do this if you put the effort into roping up a boss.
Bosses are the only exceptions to the anti lure.

Yes there is a brazillian problem.
Just play with your friends, other people who speak english, much nicer.
I can say though I loved Tibia for its unique style of gameplay, no other game has a similar gameplay setup.
I remember once when this guy bought a house in carlin, it was empty, and I asked if I could come in. So anyway I went in ran around and shit and had lots of fun, then left. Came back later after he had stocked up his house with all sorts of level 40 loot, and then found out I could still enter the house. Me being a complete bastard, I took absolutely everything and loaded up my depot with all this guys stuff.
Good times.
Used to be fucking amazing game, around version 7.4. Now it is a piece of shit.

HAHAH thats fucking jokes!
Oh yeah, by the way this game is probably the most cheated on game in existence. Probably about 80% of the population use cheat tools. No exaggeration.
This game was okay...
The game doesn't compare to UO Hybrid, don't even bother.
