How would combat change if you could foresee the future? If you could prevent your past mistakes from ever happening? What if your enemy could too?
Achron is the first game to feature single-player and multiplayer free-form time travel. It is the world's first meta-time strategy game, a real-time strategy game where players and units can jump to and play at different times simultaneously and independently.
You can undo your mistakes, change your strategy after committing to it, preview the future, freeze time to perfectly coordinate attacks, and send entire fleets through time to when they are needed. However, all of your opponents will also be independently moving across time, attempting to rewrite history in their favor...
Achron is now available for pre-order for $29.95 USD, but the first 500 buyers will receive the price of $19.99 (Press Release). Those who pre-order will receive early playable demos, mod tools, and more .
Gameplay video; there's more on the site. This video is probably outdated by now, but shows some of the core gameplay.

Bad graphics and shitty looking gameplay for only 20 dollars?! I'll take eight!
I've been watching this game for a good 6 months and now I'm looking for the $20 to buy it.

The video was a very early pre-alpha. It's gotten much better since then.

Then why post it?
I've watched the videos and all I can say is :wtf:
Looks like pain in the ass to control.

Because I couldn't be bothered to find a better one.

A video explaining the mechanics of the time travel feature.
yeah, fuck managing a bunch of units in a bunch of places, that's old school
Let's manage a bunch of units in a bunch of places at different time periods, all at the same time!
Shit looks hard to play :frown:
but very interesting
Play games... In the fourth Dimension
I'm rating you clocks because it's about time
I've seen this before. It looks pretty awesome allthough confusing.
Will see how it turns out before I buy it.
This looks confusing.
Looked interesting a few months ago, but I've lost interest since then.
So how does it know what the enemy player is going to use and where he will place it?
Because he must have already done it at least once. The game is recording everything, in case timelines are destroyed (say an army wipes out a base) and then restored. (retaliatory strike against the factory the army was made from, before the army got built)
Yes, that does imply that a "current time" is running constantly and you can't travel into "the future" further than that.
Cool, discussing current time and future in relative terms :v:

They've not really started working on the graphics engine properly yet, a lot of the videos are showing effectivelly a stable alpha.
It's not near finished yet so calling shitty graphics is a bit unfair.
Looks great, Ive been watching it for roughly a year.
Cant wait to buy it, Epic LAN party game
This game is going to give me many headaches.

I hope it's as easy to play as they say it is.
It's very to think about hypothetical scenarios as time travel in real life is impossible due to anything and everything causing paradoxes forever.
I think i'll be pre-ordering. Can't wait for the multiplayer release on feb 15th.
This looks unique and awesome. I might even pre-order this.
