hello facepunch gamers!
me and my friends were looking for some new good RTS games and yes know the usual starcraft and warcraft and age of empires and command and conquer games. but we were looking for some new ones to play and test at.
now i was looking at dawn of war 2 but does it have base building?
so any suggestions?
Yes in dawn of war you build.
Company of Heroes, perhaps?
Get age of mythology. Very good RTS.

And I suggest Company of Heroes. Crazy fun and it's something new in the RTS genre.
Dawn of War 2 has no base-building at all. Only a minor bit in multiplayer games.
the first DoW games had base-building but I wouldn't say it was a whole lot.
Get Universe at War: Earth Assault and Age of Mythology, as well as the Supreme Commander series, although you'll need a computer built within the last 4 or 5 years to play SupCom very well.
E: And Company of Heroes. Very good series, definitely a good set.
I'd say Supreme Commander. Me and my friend had lots of fun in it.

Age of Mythology is one of my favorite RTS's, get it.
Empire Earth 1.
Brilliant game that will last quite a few hours.
Start off as a cave man and age to the future!
Also Hamachi friendly, just direct connect with IP.
Get motherfucking Evil Genius if you just want base building.
All Command & Conquers (aka. up to Renegade).

Has more realism than most RTSs and is extremely fun.

There is Dawn of War, and it's expansions Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, and Soulstorm, which all have base building.
Then there is Dawn of War II which runs on a different engine, and base minimal base building (HQ and stationary guns)
Another suggestion for OP is World of Conflict, as said above, you really should check it out.
Total Annihilation and it's spinoff, Kingdoms are both fairly good,
And the total war series is all pretty good.
World in Conflict needs more love than it gets.
Starcraft, and, when it comes out, Starcraft 2. Also, Diablo 2 is good.

I reccomend all relic games I don't get why everyone loves base building so much but if you realy want base building you can skip on dawn of war 2
