I just found out my house has a Dynamic IP address, not Static. And that my dad wants to keep it that way. But having a dynamic ip address is not letting me play on anyone's server. It comes up with the error "Connection timed out: connect".
What can I do to fix this without changing it to static ip?

Get http://www.dyndns.com/ ?
So I'm not sure if this helps. I'm not trying to buy anything.
This my account by the way, the other one is my brothers when I got on to make this thread.
You can set your computer to have a static IP, he probably won't find out.

He's the only one that knows the router password so I need to do this a different way.

You don't have to touch the router at all.
Here, let me put together some instructions for ya.

You don't need a DNS, so I took it out
Hope it works even though its in Norwegian.
PS: You need Administrative rights to do this.
PPS: Type IPConfig in CMD to (Most likely) find your Local ip, for me it was 192.168.10.***
What afromana said, usually works.
Still isn't working..
Though, when it comes to JOINING servers, having a Dynamic IP makes no difference.
Are you certain the server you want to join is now down?
(The reason I made that tutorial is because I thought you wanted to HOST servers)

I realised that now, and i have no idea what the problem might be.
Maybe port 25565 is blocked on his side?

(The reason I made that tutorial is because I thought you wanted to HOST servers)
I've been trying to join any server for the past week.
All I'm trying to do is JOIN any server. And it just pauses for about 20 seconds then tells me "Connection timed out: connect".
Sorry for the misunderstanding, I do not intend to host my own servers.

And you've made sure inbound port 25565 is not blocked?
The router setting could be ALL ports but port 80 or something like that blocked, resulting in an inability to join any server at all.
