This thread is dedicated to finding software to improve low FPS for games on low-end computers and laptops.
Game Booster 3
Game Booster 3 is capable of delivering the best gaming experience to you even if you have an old PC. One-click to boost PC performance is not enough, Game Booster 3 also allows you to tweak your system for top PC performance. By temporarily shutting background processes and unnecessary Windows services, cleaning RAM, and intensifying processor performance, Game Booster 3 concentrates every little system resource for gaming only.
Game Booster 3 is compatible with PunkBuster, Cheating-Death, VAC, and any other anti-cheat software.

Intel Display Adapter Management Tool
Intel Display Adapter Management Tool is a software written in C++/CLI to help users with Integrated Intel GPUs. Currently it only lets users to switch between Software Vertrex Processing and Hardware Vertex Processing for specific executables.
If you want to imporve the frame rate of your game you can try to switch from hardware to software vertex processing mode which may improve your frame rate drastically or it can also lower it (depending on the game and your CPU's speed).

If anyone knows of any more software that could be added to the list, post them and I'll edit them into the post.
Gamebooster is only a defragger for games?
I mean you can do that manually yourself.
IDAMT didn't fix anything other making the games on my old laptop look like shit with worse framerates than before (Intel x4500MHD).
Game Booster isn't just a defragger for games, and the description of the IDAMT did say it could cause an FPS drop. These two programs have vastly improved my gaming performance, for example, in Amnesia: Dark Descent. I used to only get a horrible 2-3 FPS, but now I'm on medium setting with around 30-40 FPS with an occasional drop.

Fair enough.
I can vouch for Game Booster. It shuts down unnecessary background processes and services while active, freeing up CPU and RAM.
As added bonuses, it has a defrag tool, driver update checker, toggle-able FPS counter, and it can record videos as well as take screenshots.
Yeah gamebooster is really good. I downloaded it recently while trying to play firefall and I was getting like 20 FPS all round before Now it goes up to 30-40 most of the time.
I have yet to try it with other games.
Game Booster is nice. I use to use it when I had CPU problems.
PFF. Just download more ram. Problem solved.

I can actually agree with you on that on now, I disabled it for GTA IV and actually saw an improvement.

Maybe it works for just certain games? :P Too bad there is no list of supported games that give a FPS boost :/
