I'll skip to the 3D part:
Crysis in 3D is… well, it's still Crysis. In 3D. I don't mean to sound reductive; I was impressed with some of the tricks Crytek displayed to make the 3D version of the game more immersive, including layering and subtle movement of the HUD over the game world, and the sense of verticality and height in particular were heightened by the effect. Meanwhile, there was no perceivable performance decrease with 3D mode active, and perhaps more surprisingly to some, this was all running with no issues at all on the Xbox 360, a quiet refutation of Sony's nascent push to lay claim to the technology in the public conscience.
But – of course there's a but – 3D didn't make the game better, really. It's the same game, and Crytek doesn't appear to be making the mistake of designing heavily around the 3D element. While it's a neat addition, I haven't yet seen anything to convince me to buy into the required ancillary hardware, be it a new TV and/or active shutter glasses (though Crytek has been kind enough to announce support for the three current forms of 3D tech, and my demo used passive polarized glasses similar to those used for 3D screenings of last year's Avatar). And for some players, it actually made the game worse, as the 3D made a number of members of the games press nauseous, including our own Hilary Goldstein.
I hope it is good. Though i'd love to see my HUD pop out in front of me.
Is the HUD the only 3d part about it? That doesn't seem as cool as I imagined.

No the whole game is.
I'm sick of this 3D bullcrap. If it wasn't optional, I'd completely forget about buying Crysis 2. I'd go out of my way to avoid seeing anything related to it.
So does Crytek and EA know the majority of people that can run crysis are older then teenager/kids and most adults I know say 3d is a joke and its for kids
oh my god you all act like it's required to play the game in 3D
its just an added feature that you can choose to ignore if it offends you so much
Eh, they announced it for CryENGINE 3 a while back already, not surprised that it's in Crysis 2 too.

I also hate that game developers are adding interesting new features in that are completely optional.
I also hate that game developers are adding interesting new features in that are completely optional.
...optional features are the only way to cater to most peoples' likes or dislikes. How is adding optional features at all a bad thing? Just like people that don't like 3D, you don't have to play it in 2D just because its optional.
I was being sarcastic
It's good to see that more people are using 3D in video games. Hopefully I'll be able to get a second graphics card to get a proper 3D rig going. Eventually that would be plausible for all of us, I guess.
I was being sarcastic
That works.
Not that its a bad thing, but 3D FUCKING EVERYWHERE these days...
Yea its no big deal. While devs spent time on the 3d bullshit they could have been adding content, features, graphical enhancements you know making the game better. But I guess wearing gay glasses is more important.
:pcgaming:
Hehe, that's funny.
...
Wait, their serious?
Also, wouldn't playing in 3D cause it to be even more demanding? since it has to render everything twice from different angles? Or is there another less demanding way of doing it?

It isn't hard to add 3d and depth perception to a game.
They said no performance loss.
but they are running on super computers from 2160 you know.
If its goes by the same as Crysis one, its because its pretty hard to drop any further than a constant 1fps!
3d needs 3d tv?
Wow chill the fuck out its optional. And a 3D game sounds awesome, with the right equipment it could be a really enthralling experience. How is this bad in any way shape or form, its just a new optional feature for people who want to go that bit further in immersing themselves in the game.
If its goes by the same as Crysis one, its because its pretty hard to drop any further than a constant 1fps!
If you can't run Crysis at more than 1FPS even on low, your computer sucks horse dick.
Seriously, I could run it on medium at a stable 30FPS on a Dell Studio XPS, which is nearly the shittiest of them all.
Cool to have the feature, but I'm probably not going to use it.
This is the future you dolts.
No one cares if you don't like it because it's going to happen anyways.
It sounds interesting, when done right 3D can be good, at least it's not just bolted onto the game like most developers will probably do, it was made with 3D in mind.
If it adds to the experience then great, if not then just turn it off.

No, it isn't. Movie producers tried using 3D in the 80's/ 90's and it fell flat then. It was nothing more than a gimmick back then, it is nothing more than a gimmick now. The fact you have to use specific hardware or those shitty glasses (that predjudice those who cannot use both eyes effectively) make it a gimmick.
It's not like they could have chosen to NOT use glasses.. That technology is not yet available.
What's with the sudden 3D hate bandwagon? Yes, it's a complete gimmick, but it's not like there's much of a downside to having it as an option.
It's not like they could have chosen to NOT use glasses.. That technology is not yet available.
It is, but it's not standard and I gather it's expensive like all fuck.

How the hell is it a prejudice? "WAH WAH WAH IT'S DISCRIMINATION THESE GLASSES WON'T WORK WITH ME FOR A FEATURE THAT'S COMPLETELY OPTIONAL". Nobody is forcing you to use 3D. 3D tech is advancing astonishingly fast, and we're approaching a point where we won't need 3D glasses and everything's stereoscopic. So until the day that 3D becomes compulsory, everyone needs to shut the fuck up about it like it's being forced on you, because it's seriously not. Just don't click the "3D Enable" option in the settings menu and you're fine. Stop ruining the fun for everyone else.
Beep-Beep.
My gimmick detector is going off.
This isn't progress in gaming its a step back, 3d came out in the 1830's
Crysis 2 comes with this

Because they haven't improved anything about it.
