One of the most unlikely places, I know, But Im more hyped for the Source Engine 2 than ep3 itself.
Any thoughts?
Meh.
If Gabe said the suprise was about Portal, maybe they are showing the Source Engine 2 using Portal 2 as it's showcase.
Water physics would be cool and its about time they updated source. Maybe it will have destructible environments like in bad company.

Or You are walking through a corridor when a strider with top hat crashes through the ceiling shooting steaming hot tea at you from it's strange appendage.
Perfect showcase for both destructibles and water
Maybe a better version of Hammer with a better displacement tool.
it's all speculation.

Perhaps its the operator with the issue?
Perhaps its the operator with the issue?
I agree, I have absolutely no issues with the displacement tool.

I just think it is not as good as other engines. I don't have too many problems with it.
As flexible as the engine is, it is getting a bit out of date. Also, that website is absolute shit when it comes to writing a decent article with good evidence.

Toms Hardware has been around since I've been using a computer. From what i recall. My long term memory is shot, too much alcohol abuse.

Your alcohol got in the way of realizing I was talking about the engine :v:
I hope it has at least some form of ACTUAL destructible environments. I was so disappointed when the 'cinematic physics' turned out just to be prop_dynamics.
Ditto to the above post. I just kept sitting there ent_firing the animation. :f5h::saddowns:
If they updated the source engine to something like Bad Company 2 standards, or Metro 2033 then I would be amazed.
If it's true, why don't they just update the current engine. It's possible.
I just want full dynamic lighting
If it's true, why don't they just update the current engine. It's possible.
Because that's boring.
[editline]10:58PM[/editline]
It's like saying, why don't they just update Portal 1 with the new maps and content and characters.
It's all about showbiz and pizaz and shit
Will this mean VAC3?
The engine is great as it is
Will this mean VAC3?
No, VAC2 is still good
No, VAC2 is still good
Good enough that I will get banned soon for playing PARANOIA mod for Half-Life 1.
PARANOIA uses a DLL called opengl.dll to enhance the graphics and if you go online with this DLL, you will be VAC banned.
No bans from using this DLL have been rescinded.

Stop spreading bullshit.
The HOT QUESTION about SAFE PLAY: I've heard that playing your mod is a big risk for my STEAM account. The playing PARANOIA online can make my STEAM account banned by VAC. Is that true?
Answer: The anticheating services WILL NOT BAN YOUR ACCOUNT IF YOU PLAYING OUR MOD ONLINE. The VAC will detect opengl32.dll as a cheat in case if you will try to play another HL1 mod (CS1.6 for example) online on the server with VAC protection. We have NO PRECEDENT that some account was banned, because VAC just prevent you from playing on the server with anticheating protection. If you want to play online with other HL1 mods, just delete opengl32.dll file (or replace it to other detectory), but don't forget to put it back when you want to play PARANOIA. Without opengl32.dll in the Half-Life folder, the new graphic effects in PARANOIA will not be available.
It only bans if you play another game with that dll.

what the hell. Thats stupid.
It's the mod's fault itself.
Dont let us down valve!! Ps:gabe for crying outmloud stop trolling!!!
Gabe created a console.
The engine is great as it is
It is a great engine at all, and is highly commendable for it's modability. However, it's turning out of date.
I've got it!!!
Gabe said it wasn't HL2 EP3
Maybe he was telling the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe they're skipping it and going straight to hl3!!!!!!!
Maybe they've been developing it all these years during the episodes
I doubt it though...
