I was in bed a few minutes ago trying to sleep and my mind went to the thought of if Apple ever created a gaming console what should it be like. Then I thought why is gaming consoles limited to big name companies. Why cant a indie group or company go into develop a console that obviously can be ran by the gaming community itself instead of the big corporate agenda. So I got up and started to research the possibility and fact into this. This is what I found initially:
The spec of a X360 is very low compared to a normal PC or gaming PC.

Now these specs can easily be topped with a good budget and with some good development and dedication. An I read a blog on the subject that brought up some good topics about it but things such as game distribution and community development limitations.I had some quick answers on some the mountains to cross such as create or use a system like Valve's Steam to quickly replace disc sold in stores. An maybe even play PC games instead seperating a console from the rest of the gaming community.

What do yall think about a serious and innovative independent consoles and if so what should be in it and hurdles you think will have to be overcome or big corporate agenda running home consoles?
its called a pc
You won't have the money to massively spread these consoles.
What is wrong with those that exist now and are run by the "big corporate agenda"?

Only if multiplayer has cross platform capabilities.

Even then, it'd be hard to make a profit in today's market as an indie developer.
Market too tight for more consoles. They'd get crushed.
To release these consoles, you need money. If you would have enough money to distribute these consoles and make them, your corporation/community would essentially BE a big corporation.
sure but the fact is the consoles are have gotten more popular over the years than PC gaming and their is simply no independent voice or creation in that market. Now if I were solely a console fanboy and someone said hey you can play MW2 on PC a common reaction from the console community would be:
"Why would I use a computer to play this when I have a X360 or PS3 that's just stupid"
when the smart PC gamer would think or say " Yea but it looks better and plays better here" plus we'd might put in the argument there simply a more competitive group here.
they already can with the Xbox 360
XNA game studio for the Xbox 360
Apple has made a console

I say they shouldn't make one, why? Because there's no point in having more than 3 consoles. They'll all be the same. Besides, indy developers don't use a lot of power as is.
I dream of a future of one console that plays everything from Halo to GoW to L4D to Mario.
pssssssst
openpandora
They wouldn't get support from games manufacturers.
Wheres the profit?
I've always thought Apple and nintendo shoud make a console togather

I shudder to even think about the fanboys of such a system.

They would have the collective IQ of a vegetable.
Money, probably.

... is the reason it is like that.

*ahem*
Hell, if I could find my discs I could play Halo, GoW, L4D and Mario at the same fucking time.
