I bought Fallout 3 from steam for probably 3 hours ago. Everytime i try to launch it, it crashes by saying "Fallout 3 has stopped working".
I have tested all the patches, reinstalling and verify the game cache but nothing works.
I've been searching on Google for fixes but haven't found anything (yet).
If you have two monitors, disable the second one.
Fallout 3 doesn't like running with two monitors enabled for some reason.
Only one monitor. 30 bucks for nothing. Thanks steam!.
Can you even run it?
My specs isn't the problem. Whenever i press "launch game" it crashes instantly.
Get latest drivers? Sometimes works.

People like you are awful. You're being impatient, you were just given a single piece of shitty advice and then you go off to whine like a bitch.

And it is more than likely an issue that can be fixed by driver updates or reinstall.
Delete the .exe and then check the game integrity via steam
What GPU and which brand is it?
Try disabling all unnecessary programs and then launhing the game. Try different compability modes etc.
Post your PC specs too

Isn't 72c a little hot?

If that's idle without overclock, then yes it is.
His isn't clocked, it's the default speed.

Talked to him on Steam, apparently, that was idle, not clocked.
Did you install any mods?
Wrong load orders can cause this issue.
I didn't install any mods. I bought it, installed it and when i tried to launch it, it crashed instantly.
Take the fallout 3 folder out of steamapps/common folder and put it somewhere else, install fallout mod manager or FOMM and launch the game that way.
Not to be an elitist prick, but this is why I love my 360.
I can always count on whatever I want running to run without a single problem.
Your PC is overheating, apprantly, and it's doing so when IDLING. That's your problem.

Except for complete system failure.
Verify the integrity of the game cache files, OP.

Where do you guys get your XBOXs? I've had mine for over 3 years, and it's never failed on me, or gotten an RROD.
Get a new fan for your pc(or 2)
When you launch the game, you get that little menu with the options, try lowering all the graphics options( if you dont get the menu, go to your istallation directory and run the autorun from there)
If none of that works the, maybe defrag and verify integrity.

because the 360 never has any problems at all with heat.
because you can count on a 360, the most reliable console of this generation.
Everyone in this thread has either been wrong or unhelpful so far. Hooray starting a pointless argument about the 360 and PC when someone asked for help with running their game :downsbravo:
Fallout 3 and Steam do not co-operate very well with each other. Try running it in offline mode, and if that doesn't work, leave it be for a little while and then try it later. If neither of those work, your only real choice is a reinstall (again).
don't go there man
k
I have reinstalled and verified the game cache twice without any fixes.
I'll try playing it in offline mode.

Did not work.

I've never had a single problem.
