So I downloaded the "GodFinger" app on the appstore for my iPod Touch, and I wanted to know what games are out there for PC in that genre of gameplay? GodFinger: [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-Z_bMPkl64[/media] Basicly, games where you play God. Just not Spore.
Black and White and its sequel.
black and white series, would be better if it was a global-scaled sandbox though :/ edit: fucking ninja'd edit: now I want a fucking ipad.
Black & White 1+2, and populous if you want to go old school. I think they provide the best feeling of being a God in the god game genre. NINJA'D
plants vs zombies you become the plant god...
Chock another point up to the Black & Whites.
Ok, thanks for the quick replies!
Black & White was god-like, despite everyone else I know saying it sucked. Brilliant, fantastic, amazing game.
The people who dislike the first Black&White are the people who listened to Peter waffling on shit. It's a good game. B&W2 is utter shit it's like a huge downgrade in terms of everything except graphics when compared to the first. It's the reason B&W is on "indefinite hold" even though they had plans for 5 games. Only Peter could define and destroy an entire genre in ~15 years.[/rant]
Black & White as has been said. But not 2, 2 destroyed the things that were great about the original. It's still Lionheads best game IMHO, and one of the best games of the turn of the last decade. And the only god game that honest to god makes you a true deity. ( :P ) But it doesn't run particularly well on newer systems, so you might want to check that out. I got it to run on Vista but it was minimum graphics and I couldn't change it. :/
2 sucked, I want my god damn giant spike-covered temple of doom. [editline]04:54PM[/editline] A graphical update to B&W1 would be awesome.

Of course, I suggest playing one of the Dungeon Keeper games. You play as an evil god among many other evil gods, hellbent on turning all that's good in the world to ash.
Game looks cool, if I ever get an ipad.
Just be wary of the fact that B&W needs a lot of time to figure out all it's features, so don't give up if you feel as though a land is almost impossible. I've been playing since 2003 and I'm still discovering features that I had no idea existed.
I dunno, I think B&W was a little lacking. I don't like that there are only 3 skirmish maps along with the main storyline, and it seems like some of the mechanics were glitchy, or just too subtle to tell if they're working. Like you might throw an artifact into an enemy village and cast the flock of birds miracle at them and nothing will happen at all, but then your pet shits on a tree and suddenly the village is fascinated with you. I also have to wonder if the pet AI is as advanced as the devs would have me believe. If I smack my pet after he eats a person, how does he "know" what action the punishment relates to? It's really hard to know if your pet is responding properly, especially since the on-screen help just says "from now on, your pet will do that sort of thing less often." The coolest thing about the game is the way your temple and pet change over time, like how he can get battle scars fighting with other pets
Well largely you have to have really quick reflexes to punish your little guy because the second a new thought enters his head he thinks you're punishing him for that and not the other thing. Generally you want to catch him in the act. But I really like the ambiguity of the game even if it can be hard to tell what you're doing some of the time. Taking the creature as an example, in Black & White 2 they exposed the creatures mind through the UI, and he completely stopped being this fuzzy little likable entity you saw as a thing with a mind of it's own, and started being a stat you could make go up and down. All personality and illusion of free will down the drain.
