Someone stole my steam account without any information?

Ok, so I was looking around while offline in steam and realized my account was gone. I panicked and logged back in to find my account has been completely overhauled. I changed my password and settings. I'm not one of those people who give information over one of those "i'm a steam admin ect." I gave out no personal information. I just want to know how this could occur.
brute forced.
What do you mean by overhauled?
Are you sure it got stolen in the first place?
Anyway, if you're absolutely certain that you haven't given any info away and that it's been stolen, it's likely that you have a keylogger. In which case, you should probably download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. You can get it from here.
brute forced.
Highly unlikely.. attempts through Steam are blocked (it'll give you a connection error if you try too many times) and Steam Community has a captcha. Possible, but really unlikely.
All of my groups were removed, and name and avatar changed. Also my friendslist. I am very sure I didn't give any information at all, I've read enough of those "I got scammed HALP!" threads
Run antivirus, check for things like keyloggers, stop downloading horse porn, etc.
Running Avast!, although I'm starting to doubt it's reliability.
I hope you get everything fixed.
Find the person who did it and kick his ass.
maybe you just had a weird glitch, and you logged into someone elses account somehow? This happened to me on facebook once. I logged in with my normal email, passcode, and it came up with some person i have never seen in my entire life.
Yebro Iza fuk em Up! Anyways thanks :keke:

No, because my comments and hours on tf2 are the same.

This may seem silly, but I'm afraid to logoff of steam because they might take it back and change my password.

Multiple things could have occured, but let's go with two of the most basic.
First, you may have a keylogger, suggested to get a few Anti-Malware programs and do some full system scans.
Secondly, think back to see if any of your friends or family have used your PC recently. I know it's hard to think someone could backstab you like that, but after my Cousin stole my 360 and $500.00 worth of games out of my own house, I care little to none about that sort of thing, it's something to always think about.
Also, I reformatted my harddrive a week ago, and a avast scan showed no results. Although looking back, my brother could of got a keylogger looking up porn...

The first line would have been helpful to know before, the idea of getting a keylogger are even slimmer, yet still possible.
And I wasn't asking about Friends and family as in they might have gotten a keylogger by going onto a site and screwing you over, more like downloading a Keylogger and setting it up on your PC so they could steal your account.
How many games do you have on steam, is it even WORTH the trouble of getting a keylogger on your account?
Also, what was the name that was changed on your steam? Some google research could find the person who did this.
I knew what you meant, but the only other person with access is my brother, but we live under the same roof so I doubt it. Will look into though. Also the name was changed to "Virgil" with a Warhammer avatar.

Strange how my password wasn't changed as soon as it was taken.
This thread makes me paranoid.

Ask your brother if he was screwing with your stuff. If someone was smart enough to get a Keylogger onto your PC, they at least SHOULD be smart enough to attempt in stealing your account...
Or they could just be fucking with your head.

Don't be. I have over $3,600 in steam games on my account and I'm not the least bit worried.
He Isnt home right now.
[editline]11:29PM[/editline]
Also, if the password is changed and I shutdown my computer, would they be able to get back in?

If they have a keylogger on your PC, then yes... You entering in the new password is still telling them what that new password is.
What you CAN do though, for now, is use Windows built in click keyboard. Use that when typing in the new password. I'm not 100% sure if that will bypass the Keylogger or not, but it's better than nothing.
I've been typing on my iPod the whole
time and the power has been out for a few hours.

Then you are fine.
I bet it was done by your brother or something.
It's not my brother. Trust me.

Well I'm going to call it a night.
It's not my brother. Trust me.
There's no harm in asking him about it.
This is why you get email authentication for your Steam account. As long as you have a different password for your email than your Steam account, nobody can change your password. THERE IS NO REASON NOT TO DO THIS.
