2 Of my friends has this problem: They can log into the game and create a character, but they freeze at the loading screen on their way to their first mission. I can't really find any info on how to fix this for them. Please help?
tried to reinstall?
He is doing that now, I just got a feeling that ain't the problem.
Maybe a loading bug? Not syncing with the server upon loading? Hardware-specific bug?
hmmm... are they both trying them on low settings? if reinstalling doesnt work, try that in combination with running it in a window with no sound. if they cant do it in the game itself, try forcing the variables with the steam launch options. sadly i forget the commands for these, but they can easily be searched on the internet. if this doesnt work, i really dont know what to say.
NvRdie, I don't understand what you are saying.. But can you tell me what to do specifically? :P
there should be options on the start menu. you can change the settings to lowest on most games. if this doesnt work, right click on the game in your steam games menu and open up game settings. go to launch settings and go to advanced launch options. im pretty shure the commands are -window and -nosound but a simple google search on steam advanced launch commands will yeild the real answer. sadly, im at school so i cant go on steam and walk you through it. if there is still a problem, add me on steam and i will get to you as soon as i get home.
He tried, but that doesn't work either.. We are clueless.. :(
Why did you bother post? Of course I'll give a steam gift, if I say it. Get the fuck out.
Post the system specs for your friends computers. I have an idea but I need the specs
Indeed, we need specs.
This is for both pcs: Intel Pentium 3.0Ghz processor 2GB Ram And then, one of the computers has a Geforce 7500 LE, and the other one has a Geforce 8800GTS
graphics drivers updated?
i dont think the 7500 le one meets the graphics requirements... what are their dedicated video memory?
I did, yea.
I do not beleive that those computers meet the minimum system requirements. Global Agenda Minimum Specs: OS: Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista SP1 or Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit) Processor: 2.4+ GHZ Single Core RAM: 2 GB (XP), 3GB (Vista, Windows 7) Video Card: 256mb video ram or better with Shader Model 3.0+ (GeForce 8 series or higher/Radeon HD3000 series or higher). Hard Drive: 15 GB free space High bandwidth internet connection (DSL, Cable) You said that there computers can run Crysis on low and medium. Crysis Specs: OS - Windows XP or Windows Vista Processor - 2.8GHz or faster (XP); 3.2GHz or faster * (Vista) Memory - 1GB RAM or 1.5GB RAM (Vista) Video Card - 256MB Nvidia 6100 Series Hard Drive - 12GB Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible As you can see, there is a large difference between the minimum system requirements for Crysis and the minimum system requirements for Global Agenda. I suggest that you look at their graphics cards possibly being outdated, so they are inable to play this. I remember a few cases back from Modern Warfare 1 where people met the minimum requirements, but they were not able to play the game because there graphics cards could just not meet the standards that the game requires to run.
it is possible to upgrade ram... for about 100 dollars. you would be better just upgrading the computers now so you dont have any more problems like this for a while
try reinstalling directx, i know it sounds stupid but this helps many games that ive seen
Upgrading an entire rig is more expensive than upgrading just your RAM.
It might be simpler and cheaper in the long run for you to upgrade a computer instead of the Ram. Next thing you know you will be upgrading Ram. Then the Graphix card a year later. Then the CPU, and so on. It all gets more expensive then just buying a new computer
I had this computer for, like, forever and I've upgraded/changed every component at least once..?
no offense, but i was talking about him. not to be mean, but if he couldn't figure out advanced launching options without help, he probably wouldn't be able to install his own parts very well...
I built my own PC myself. I guess it's because of their graphics cards not supporting shader model 3.0. I just figured they both have the same shitty graphics card too.

If there graphics card wont support Shader Model 3.0, then they wont be able to play the game, but will be able to make characters, etc... I suggest having them switch out their graphics card with yours before they go out and buy a new one, to see if this actually works.

You dont solder shit in a computer when installing components, what the fuck gave you that idea? Have you ever seen anyone fucking putting in RAM like that? 2. Just because you can't do something doesn't mean he can't, buying and installing new equipment for a rig isn't rocket science. 3. Generally pre-built PC's are overpriced and that price ratio doesn't meet the performance at all. DIY computers are usually faster, cheaper and the satisfaction of getting it running all by yourself is great.
"" makes sence? Makes sense to me. Yet there is not. I am having a blast.
What is this? I dont even...
Is it that hard to run the unreal engine?
If you're short on ram, use eboostr or use Game Booster to cut down on ram usage. [sp]i have no idea what you guys are talking about with your hardware talk :frown:[/sp]
unless you are a master with a saudering gun, i wouldn't even think about upgrading everything yourself. buy a new computer, its that much simpler.
Uhh.... have you ever actually put a computer together? You stick the components in and then make sure you've got the right plugs in the right place. I am over simplifying but it really isn't that hard. BTW, I've never soldered something into my computer, and I've been building computers for 10 years now. Now, on to the subject at hand:
I built my own PC myself. I guess it's because of their graphics cards not supporting shader model 3.0. I just figured they both have the same shitty graphics card too.
8800GTS supports shader model 4.0 as a matter of fact. 7300LE apparently supports shader model 3.0 but honestly, 7300LE was a piece of shit even when it came out and I doubt the support for shader 3.0 is even really there. That's not a problem for the guy with the 8800GTS. I bet the problem is sound drivers, video drivers, directx, or an unsupported resolution/monitor refresh. If you have an LCD monitor, chances are it's 59 or 60hz refresh. You need to make sure the game's options reflect this. Try running the game at the monitor's native resolution with a proper refresh rate. If that doesn't work, install the newest video drivers and directx. If that doesn't work, install the newest sound drivers for your motherboard or sound card if you're not using onboard sound. If THAT doesn't work, go to "Device Manager" and make sure there are no conflicts for audio or video devices. If there are, try disabling the device(s) that you know for sure are not actually there. If none of these work, it may be the video codecs. If the game plays videos during loading or on the main screen, it can cause serious issues. There is rarely an easy fix for this if this is the case.
