I can't decide which one to buy. I like Dragon Age way more than Mass Effect. The second Mass Effect looks way more in depth like Dragon Age was and probably has more gameplay but the Dragon Age expansion just looks so fucking epic. And don't say both I don't have the money.
ME2, no questions asked.
Hmm.. If I were too choose one before the other, I guess go with Mass Effect 2. It's a full game not just an expansion, and you'll put more hours into than anything. The Dragon Age expansion looks great, but I think Mass Effect 2 is the better buy
Thought Dragon Age was rather average at best after completing it and would say Mass Effect 2, after completing that I felt satisfied unlike DA which in all respects was a cliché story with a really underwhelming ending.
Plus expansion vs a full game. Would rather pick a full game myself, perhaps picking up the expansion in the future if I were you.
ME2

Really? Dragon Age captivated me and even though the final battle wasn't satisfying enough the rest of the game was. It was also kind of cool how your decisions all racked up into the ending and told kind of a story, although I wish they kind of did a voice or something for that and some cutscenes.
Dragon Age is actually probably one of my top 3 games, I enjoyed it that much.
Then again I haven't even started Mass Effect 1 and don't own ME2, so I can't compare the two
Dude, if you haven't played the first one, you're sorely missing out. Do yourself a favor and pick up both for $70 (ME2 + ME1), you won't regret it!
I have played the first one. It really wasn't all that impressive but I did play DA:O first. I liked how much more in depth the party/squad was.

If you're talking to me, I have the first one. Just haven't started it
You don't even need to play the first game to understand the second.

If you have a save from the first though, it's cool too see how your decisions influenced the universe. Oh and I think using a save from the first also let's certain characters return from the 1st, if not only for a little while..

You kinda do...
both.... but ME2 at a closer date to ME3. Dragon Age has first priority at this moment.

Umm. yeah, NO. Tell that to the 8312 people who were at my store at midnight launch of Mass Effect 2, and other gamestops around the country!

mate, it's called personal oppinions and priorities. I think that DA:O:A has greater priority.
it's kinda sad watching you debunk my oppinions as if it's common oppinion.
You have to get both. No doubt about it.
I would get Mass Effect 2 first because it's a full fledged game, To play it to full completion, it will take you up to Awakening's release date.
So instead of waiting until March 17 or so, just playing DA:O (and to be honest, you'd probably get bored of it if you played it all the way till March.) make the time inbetween more exciting with some ME2.

sounds wise, but i'm doing some KoTOR. i'm posponing a full ME series run till i hear more of ME3. i imagine such a marathon would be epic.
comparable to watching the LoTR films the first time in one go.
If you want to marathon it, then getting Dragon Age first is probably best. But I wouldn't be able to resist temptation.
I can barely wait till Friday for my ME2 >.>

No you don't, I haven't played the first and the second one makes perfect sense.
ME2 because its a full game.
As shown above, the average Facepuncher would say ME2 but I'd have to disagree.
Not only will you save money by getting the DA expansion but you will have more fun. Why? Because in my opinion the original Mass Effect was nothing special and to be honest not that good of a game. The gameplay was very weak and the characters weren't as likable as the DA characters were.
It is funny though how Dragon Age and Mass Effect have almost the same stories just in different era's. Darkspawn/Reapers, Grey Wardens/Spectres, and the fact that they both call their god, "The Maker." I dunno, I could go on about the similarities between the two but I won't.
Get the DA expansion, it'll do you good.
Or you could buy ME2 now and save up for the DA expansion since it comes out in March.

Well that's because Bioware said something about the two games being connected sort of
that's why you see the blood dragon armor in both games. I don't know, I think it would be a little farfetched for Mass Effect to be IN THE FUTURE of DA:O and wouldn't make much sense since magic exists in DA:O.. but yeah the two stories are pretty similar
i know this is blasphemeous. but biowares RPG's have many reaccuring themes, story elements and gameplay. that's just how it is. all their RPG's are alike but very different at the same time. and this seems to work fantastically. i never have Deja Vu's while playing at all. but i do realize that party interation reaccurs and mostly with the same themes since BG2. the combat is mostly RTTB with a topdown view letting you control all characters or a over the shoulder view letting you control ONE character. this reaccurs too.
it all reaccurs. everything reaccurs. we're all living in one big cycle of reaccuring events.

Did you play ME2? It's way better then the first in every aspect.
