Survival enthusiasts are pretty limited in game choice. We've got the lackluster Stranded series and a few very very old games. Notrium is one of the few other good ones. At least we are lucky enough to have GMOD Stranded.
The UnReal World is a survival RPG set in the Middle Age of Finland with a lot of stuff to do.
You start out picking a tribe with lots of different skill sets as well as your characters main stats and skills.
From there you can generate a random world and some scenario goals. If you want to be led through a tutorial or quest like game you can choose to do that. If not you can start one of the game's scenarios.
Scenarios range from starting as a humble farmer or fisher, to starting right in the middle of a slave camp attempting to escape.
Unlike a lot of other survival games there are occasional NPC's that can interact with. While you can make most basic items, things like salt or iron are only obtained through trade, combat, or theft.
Injuries and temperatures are very well modeled. If you break your leg, eat a poisonous mushroom or take a bad would, be prepared for challenging weeks of recovery. One of the most fun parts of the game is trying to scrape an existence together when everything goes to hell.
Here's some fun stuff to do in the game:
-Track, stalk, and hunt wild game.
-Set up traps, nets, and pits to catch animals.
-Trade the woodwork, tanned skins, or cooked meat you've just made.
-Get a wife and dog.
-Start a forest fire.
-Build your own customizable home, complete with cellar and saunas.
-Acquire, protect, and live off your own livestock.
-Farm your own crops.
-Create your own island fortress.
-Make most of your own equipment from scratch.
-Befriend a traveler and adventure together.
-Try taking out a camp of nomad barbarians.
-Go cave exploring.
-Try to survive winter using the plans, food, and materials you've been laying out for months.
-Try to survive winter starting as naked, injured, lost slave.

What the hell is this?
3 bucks to see a poorly made RPG + People dressed up?
No thanks.
As fun as the game itself was, a lot of aesthetic things about it bugged me, and you need to buy it. -_-
This doesn't compare to stranded, stranded is 3d and has a fuckload of combos and customization.
I'd rather have OK 2d than poorly done 3d.
The same thing happens in most Stranded games. You can play this for way longer without it getting stale.
OP is an idiot, you can't compare 2 different genre's of games. It's like comparing F.E.A.R. 2 to Age of Empires 2.
OP forgot to include that you have to pay for the game.

I'd rather have an OK free open source 3D survival game than a unappealing game that costs 3 bux.
what the fuck, you have to pay 55 dollars to play current version plus any further version? No thanks.
Honestly it doesn't look too bad, but you can't compare them.
Looks shit imo Would not play. Plus stranded is 3-D, your argument is invalid

Typically homebrew 2D games are shittons better than 3D because the developer(s) don't have to worry about all the problems associated with a 3D engine.
I laughed so hard at those losers in the costumes.

Ahem. Stranded II is a better game AND is 3D AND has little/no bugs. Your arguement is still invalid

"I have a dick on my bed sheet covers, your argument is invalid."
It looks alright, Stranded 2 is better though.
Doesn't look like it's worth $3, or $10, or $55.
The only good thing in this game is that it's based on FINLAND! Or should I say, Winland? But anyways, looks like a crappy game, but Finland is still awesome.
It would have tested it if it was free.
You can very well test the game without buying it. IIRC it only costs money if you want to survive longer than a year or something. Which is pretty goddamn difficult.

because graphics determine whether a game is good or bad

No he didn't.
URW has been in development for almost twenty years now, by the way.
you can't get the survival feel with 2D games.
I would NEVER pay for this game. Stranded is free damnit

Totally agreed with this post
-snip-
Sounds cool, however, it looks quite tacky and some of the graphics look like they were done in Paint.
Is this a Game Maker game?
So it was in development for 20 years and yet it looks like shit. Haha.

You know, I'd be agreeing with you right now, but this genre of game... you need to be immersed, and this kind of isometric 2d display just doesn't cut it.
I'd rather just play Dwarf Fortress.
DF doesn't have the immersion either..
